I have a question: A friend of mine and me have been going back and forth on what the proper punjabi words for certain things are. It is possible, it maybe a difference in dialect. So please share your views on which is the correct form.
Khar/Kar=Home (punjabi?) Yes or no
Ghar/Ghurr=punjabi (in urdu and punjabi) yes or no
Kehnta=Hour (punjabi?) Yes or no
Ghenta/Ghainta=Hour (punjabi) yes or no
Yes. Kar (pronounce liked “kaam kar”) is the Punjabi pronunciation for the Urdu word “ghar”
Also, yes… Khenta is the Punjabi pronunciation for the urdu word “ghenta”
but isn't lehjaa changes from individual to individual. Is it only, lehja or how particular words are pronounced in a particular region along tone in which they are uttered.
i would say the english term dialect could be applied to regional version of a language........ like its said that potwari, majhaa are dialects........ and they do have a lot of difference..... its difficult for people to comprehend different dialects.......so i think 'dialect' encompasses a vast degree variation...

The vast area Punjab covers (both in India and Pakistan including Indian areas which later excluded from Punjab like Himachal and Haryana), Punjabi must have more dialects than any language in subcontinent
I would agree to that statement regarding the vastness........... but there is a bit of politics involved as well......... like siraiki and hindko to be classified as separate languages altogether...instead of dialects of punjabi........
