Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

Qatar FIFA 2022 ($12 bn) and Dubai Expo 2020 ($8 bn) requires 1.5 million work force from across the globe and Punjab through its rigorous Punjab Skills Development Program (PSDF) is trying to cash this opportunity that will increase Remittances which will cross $18 bn this year

But where is KPK Govt. , where is Sindh Govt and where is Balochsitan Govt. Will KPK and Imran Khan initiate some program like PSDF in KPK ? Until now he has failed to attract any FDI in Manufacturing, Mining, OnG Exploration Blocks (In Karak and Kohat where MOL, OMV and ENI already operating), Hydel Dam, FMCG,Small & Medium Enterprises etc to create job market for the Youth of KPK. Will rigging mantra going to solve the horrible situation of unemployment in KPK ?

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

Hydel projects take time to complete, and their initial cost is high. You ask where is KPK government in this?

Obviously the same departments did not have any issue when Nandipur and Cheechoo ki Mallian power projects were approved. Who will now question the governments wisdom in wasting billions of rupees in failed endeavours?

PTI’s hydel vision - Newspaper - DAWN.COM

Most recently, their attempts to pursue the Gorkin Matiltan hydropower project (84MW) in Swat has met with resistance in the Central Development Working Party, a government department tasked with approving projects whose cost is less than Rs3bn.

Members of the CDWP, which is run by the PML-N federal government, say the project cost is too high, and that the cost of the electricity it will generate is also too high for a hydel project. They compare this project with another one in KP which was completed at slightly below the cost of Gorkin Matiltan.

This is the crux of the matter:

**The PTI government has recently given new life to the vision, and is taking concrete steps on the ground to implement it.
**
In return, the PML-N government, which never raised concerns about the cost of generation from the Nandipur project, is obstructing the scheme, arguing its costs are too high. Again, it is hard not to see this as obstructionist politics standing in the way of reviving a promising vision, and innovative approaches, to solving Pakistan’s power crisis.

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

PTI claims that it enjoys 90% support from Overseas Pakistanis mostly highly successful professionals in every field and in 2 years not a single project in KPK by using those linkages and bring Investment to create Job Market in KPK . SKMH Chanda would not going to produce hope for graduates coming in market every year

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

^ yes only PMLN is working for Pakistanis…the rest are all incompetents.

Why was PMLN crying for Nandipur and Chichoo ki Mallian power projects during the previous government? KPK can build small power/irrigation dams on its own and that they are doing. Bigger power projects are not possible without federal government’s support. Strangely the party which was crying hoarse during PPP’s tenure is doing the same when they have got the opportunity.

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

Why is this decision being taken on provincial level and not national level? Everybody should be give a fair chance

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

Dealing with another govt on provincial basis is height of stupidness. it will increase more provincial bias. Suppose karachi or peshawar skill development board has done it than wat wud have been the reaction of others.

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

Nothing new with PML-n. Same old same old while the world has moved on.

It would be much worse if the media hadn’t been made free by Musharraf for the few that actually take journalism seriously in the fifth state.

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

I think you are forgetting that Punjab has huge support of federal government, so much so that Bara bhai only trusts chota bhai on foreign tours and doesn’t even bother to take others. There is only so much you can do on provincial level and that too without any support from federal government.

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

Punjab Bashing will not going to work after 18th amendment. Who 've stopped CM KPK, CM Sindh and CM Balochistan for any such initiative in their respective provinces specially in KPK after historic rigging and mismanagement, their main focus is on agitation based politics instead of any development scheme or investment policies for poor people and young graduates of KPK

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

Absolutely Punjab bashing should stop after 18th amendment, this is what i totally understand and support. What should also stop is Mian brothers using the country as private business empire with Baray Mian taking chotay Mian as his deputy on all foriegn tours and even taking other family members to hook them up with businessmen from other countries on OFFICIAL tours.

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

I was pleasantly surprised to see the operatoin of Kalam hydel project, which is one of the 360 odd micro hydel projects KPK govt has undertaken. The dam is already generating cheap electricity for the region, and according to one news report, hotels, which previously used to have a monthly electric bill of more than 100,000 Rs, are now paying around 10,000 per moth.

This type of change is bad news for status quo.

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

Death toll among Qatar

Nepalese migrants building the infrastructure to host the 2022 World Cup have died at a rate of one every two days in 2014 – despite Qatar’s promises to improve their working conditions, the Guardian has learned.

The figure excludes deaths of Indian, Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi workers, raising fears that if fatalities among all migrants were taken into account the toll would almost certainly be more than one a day…

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

Qatar is not known for providing humane working conditions to its workers, especially foreigners.

Re: Punjab to send 150,000 Skilled Work Force to Qatar

I dont think its punjab bashing, its shareef’s bashing only if you want to understand and distinguish

  • When SS accompanies NS on China tour, SA tour, Turkey tour, Dubai tour, UK tour blan tour blan tour as his deputy (all official tours btw)
  • When shareef’s kids represents Pakistan in SA for discussion on yemen crises

Of course SS will have better PR and contact with these countries. Why dont NS for a change take Khatak or Qaim or Malik with him to China or SA or Turkey instead of SS? Pakistan is not Itefaq foundary that one additional sharif must travel with Prime Minister of Pakistan to do all the business dealings. Getting investment or sending labor perhaps has less to do with PSDF and more to do with personal relationships that shareefs make during these official visits.

Its very good for all the people who will get job because of this but sooner or later you will hear other provinces crying about this discrimination.
