LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly unanimously adopted on Tuesday a resolution moved by Leader of Opposition Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s statement calling upon the army to take over control of the country.
The resolution termed the statement anti-democratic and said the house would continue to oppose such thinking.
The resolution was taken up out of turn on the request of the opposition leader, although Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal initially refused to do so.
Our Staff Reporter in Karachi adds: A statement issued by members of the MQM coordination committee said: “We thank the honourable members of the Punjab Assembly who tabled the resolution against Mr Hussain and got it passed.”
They said the legislators’ opposition to the MQM would help spread the party’s message in Punjab because the resolution reflected a feudal mentality.
They also said that the poor people of Punjab were with the MQM.
What reminded you of Faisal Raza Abidi in this thread? How is he even related?
And about dragging him in court, he was challenging the Talibani Iftikhar to dare to bring him to court. That coward could only muster to ban Faisal Abidi on TV channels.
KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party has served a show-cause notice on former PPP leader and Senator Faisal Raza Abidi for voicing support to military rule in the country, ARY News reported.
Abidi had criticized the PPP in a speech on Tuesday and favoured imposition of martial law in the country. The notice was issued by provincial leadership and Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah for violating party discipline and adopting anti-democratic stance.
**Talking exclusively to ARY News on Wednesday, Faisal Raza Abidi said the chief minister Sindh had a weak memory. “I have resigned from party membership a year ago, now what is the point issuing show-cause notice to me,” asked Abidi.

He announced starting a movement, opposing ‘so-called’ democracy and imposition of martial law in the country from March 23 in Sindh.
By favouring a dialogue with terrorists, he said, Sindh government was not only violating the constitution, but also disregarding the sacrifices of several people including former prime minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
He said military should immediately take over to save the country from terrorists.
