This is wrong. He nevered cross Khyber. His able general Hari Singh was killed near Ali Masjid Jamrud. His only military/Strategic achievement in Pashtunkhwa was to secure the main route from i.e. Peshawar to Attock and the main city of Peshawar itself. He couldn’t step foot in rural Pashtunkhwa.
However, it is correct that his powerbase were both Sikh and Muslim although Sikh were bit more prominent in it.
