Which is better to use? Manual or Electric breast pump? What are the implications of using either one? Which one is better?
And another question, can pumps truly replace feeding your baby naturally? I mean the fact of the matter is that the baby is getting it’s mother’s milk be it in a bottle or naturally.
Shireeni, I've tried both manual and electric. The manual one requires more patience and time so if you can afford an electric one, that's great.
Some ladies have to pump as they go to work or maybe the child was unable to latch on due to some medical or biological condition. Breast milk is great direct from the breast or via a bottle. If it is frozen and used within 48-78 hours, it's still good.
There are advantages of feeding your child directly but if you can't for some reason, there shouldn't be any ego issues about it.
i have tried both manual and electric pump, the manual one does take time and your hand does get tired aswell, so if you can afford it get an electric one i tried the advent one was really good easy to use.
expressing does help especially if you want to later bottle feed as it well help baby to feed through a bottle, also some one else can have a go at feeding.
the best point i would say is it also helps you to know how much milk baby is drinking, as with my 1st child i fed on the breast and didnt know how much she was drinking etc and she was more cranky and cried more. with my 2nd baby i started on breast and then just expressed as i found that much eisier, he slept more as he drank more milk this way, breast fed in the night as and when he needed it this way help keep the milk flow going
