Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress

a white dress?
Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress
I want to get a dress in lahore made, but im not there yet. not a western dress, but a long flowy dress with split and something to make it puffy… if not puffy then to make a big n flowy..
i found these… but i dont know especially about the grey dress: i like it that the white part is puffy, but how wud it look from the bac?
is the puffy thing a gud idea??
Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress
Puffy dresses work in western weddings because the bride moves about a lot, from the ceremony to the reception. Once u sit on stage in the dress have u imagined what it would look like? It shouldn’t look like a deflated meringue
I would only suggest such a dress if u have a slim figure, because puffy on the waist can go very wrong very easily, since it isnt only about the cut but the tailoring as well. I don’t want u to end up with lots of gathers which I suspect paki ppl will interpret puffiness to be ![]()
I made a gorgeous dress once out of a pure chiffon sari with silk as the lining the tailor made so many gathers it looks awful from the front. From the back it looks really lovely though & all the pleats fall into one another. and it couldnt be rectified because he’d stitched them together. ![]()
Have you thought of doing a tulle skirt underneath? That is a better idea to get some puffiness with out risking the tailoring of ur actual wedding dress. Get a good tulle skirt in ur size and maybe layer them , then size ur wedding dress accordingly…
Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress
hmm i thought the designer will put tulle underneath it itself… but i need some pics of ideas..
Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress
you'd have to tell them u want tulle underneath. if u say make it poofy they can make it ugly poofy
Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress

Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress

hmm can u give an idea of what it is like? how n where did u get it made...
my idea was to get a maxi floo length with a split on the on front left side, starting from the waist till the floor. And the fabric or lehnga underneath should b a lil stiff material.. to give it that puff... but im just not sure how it will look from the bac... :s :(
Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress
@ mad hatter, no i dont like those much... eumm ill try to find a pic, buth the problem is its in my mind only so far :P
Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress
Yea its a bit hard to explain but its a long maxi made of crinkle chiffon in different creamy shades of mauve and purple, the maxi has panels of three different shades and all the kaam on it. it has a slit on front from waist and underneath is a lacey material fabric like net. underneath fabric is long enough to touch the floor and it has kaam on the border. and they have attached some other material like net under the maxi which is quite stiff to give it a puffy look. Very beautiful it is.
Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress
^ that net is proly the tulle skirt. btw sounds gorgeous M.A

My tailor works with a boutique, I told him what I wanted he got it designed and showed me kaam material and fabric stuff.. he showed me same maxi that was already made on order. It looked so fabulous that I placed the order right away. I don't know where the boutique is.
Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress
Maybe you can use pictures from Delhi Couture Week to get your idea across to your tailor/designer?
Is this sort of what you’re looking for:
Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress
ok here i found a pic of a western bridal gown… if u take a look at the botom part its kindof puffy…
wud this material be fine underneath a maxi with a split starting from the waist down? or wud it be too risky?
Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress
since this looks too plain i was thinking of getting all the kaam om the maxi done and stones 'chatta' on this fabric which will only show where the split is...
So it wud b like the dress parineeti in my first post is wearing and then replace the blue fabric with this...still in blue though.
Re: puffy/flowy wedding dress
@ shaza: im considering a dress like the ones u posted for d valima. tx :)
