I’ve been in Pakistan for the past week, and I’ve witnessed episodes of public urination about 3-4 times. Its impossible to not notice them.
This is occurring in broad daylight, in even Bazaars. Some dude will find a place, where he is barely hidden, and perform the misdeed.
There is practically a mosque in every corner, where there are public toilets. So I don’t see the need for public urniation. Is this a new trend, or have I just been slow in noticing it?
It’s common (my voyeuristic collection of pictures is growing) but honestly you would need a hazmat suit to enter a public toilet safely so the wall seems like a better choice.
When you put it that way, Kissing and pissing aren’t too far from each other. Considering the fact that you have to do latter after the former.
But in any case. People should be allowed to piss wherever they want to. I mean it’s a bodily function and cannot be stopped no matter how hard you try.
Let me tell you guys a story about a king. A king once asked his advisiors to tell him what is the best feeling in the world. Many of the advisers were dumbfounded and gave answers such as, having lots of money or being in love is the best feeling in the world. One of the advisers however had a different notion of pleasure. He responded that “To take a huge crap” is the best feeling in the world. (I do apologize for the language but it has to be said in order to capture the essence of the story).
The King upon hearing this became enraged and asked the adviser to leave his court immediately. Couple of weeks later the king and his party decided to go on a hunt. Mind you the King had a massive luncheon with his advisers and was in a rather peculiar mood when it came to his stomach. No sooner had he gotten on the horse and a few strides later he needed to go #2](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=2) . But in the midst of the forest no portable toilet could be found, so an impromptu toilet had to be created just in time for the king to do the deed and disaster was averted by mere seconds.
The kind realizing his mistake called his shunned adviser back and gave him lofty presents and agreed that taking a crap is indeed the best feeling in the world.
Now that you know this story, keep in mind children that you must learn to love what’s inside you only then you’ll love what’s outside. Thanks for reading.
Reminded me of something funny.
Last summer, I think it was after long weekend, I was driving back to city on a famous highway, which brings people back from north. North is were all the wild outdoor stuff is.
I got dark road was full, every one was coming back. I noticed every so often there would be a suv pulled over to the side of the highway. Many time I also saw driver casually coming back/around the their stopped vehicle. I was thinking, why every one’s car breaking down and guy have to come out and take a look.
Untill I saw a car stopped guy was behind it I saw his feet and steady stream of water, I saw because lights from other sides were reflecting from it
So.. when got pee… you got to pee… even on the such busy highway.
Moral of the story, don’t drink too much beer when you have long drive ahead on highway which could get busy.
I have never seen any displays of public urination in Islamabad myself, and I own a house in Islamabad, so I stay in Islamabad for extended periods of time. I only visit restaurants in Lahore, so can’t say anything about Lahore.
But I witnessed this in Gujranwala and a couple of small cities close to rural areas. Which is why I was caught by surprise, because I have not witnessed public urination in busy places before. It might have to do with not frequenting larger cities so often.
Btw, this is not a westerner getting cultural shock, I spend a month in Pakistan every year.
No, not shady areas. Just a common street adjacent to a common bazaar, which was not crowded at the moment, but there were people around. There are shops in this street, but its not part of the “main bazaar”,
I have not witnessed this before, hence the surprise.
I’ve witnessed public urination in the west (mainly by hobos). But I wasn’t thinking of an east vs west perspective here, but rather from a Pakistani cultural point of view. I was surprised the perpetrators were not beaten up or atleast shouted at, to be honest.
