Well I rather show respect to my wife than affection in public. Affection when we are by our self.
About Pakistani culture. If I touch my wife in public Its like I am inviting trouble.

My older brother got married at age of 19 when he got caught with my sis-in-law in a park by police.
Inspector him self visited my father and told him the story.
My father was like "pata naheen yeeh dono kia kia kerty rahy heen inka nikah ker do"
My brother hit the jack pot.
