i just saw this anti-kerry thing on ptv prime that said if you vote for kerry, you’re wasting your vote and pakistan could lose its nuclear weapons and blah blah will happen to muslims. i found it kind of weird. since when has ptv prime started supporting bush. un ko sharam nahi aati showing some bakwaas like that. they’re showing that as if bush has done muslims a lot of good. iraq, palestine, afghanistan, arent there muslims there?? has bush done anything postive in regards to those muslims??i guess its because its under the control of busharraf since everytime you hear the news on ptv prime, all they talk about is musharaf saab ne aaj ye kya, musharaf saab ne aaj woh kya. kher anybody else see the ad.. if so what did you think of it?
It's PAKISTAN Television.. not Ummah Television. when will you guys learn to note the difference?
Bush is good for Pakistan.. He may be bad for some Arab countries but why should we care about their interests over ours?

What about using brains? Allah has blessed us with the thing that sits between two ears. Too much knees and too little brain can cause a situation that we all know as "knee jerk reaction (K-jerk-R)".
Please enlighten us with a bit more info about this ptv prime thingy. Was it discussion, an ad, or a news item?
And please avoid K-jerk-Rs. Thank you.
Happy Ramzan and peace on Earth.
Though highly arguable but there are strong notions that president Bush's reelection may serve in Pakistan’s favor. Right now, USA has shown great interest in providing Pakistan long-awaited F-16 planes as well as many other important military equipments. I am not sure about John Kerry’s administration to carry on the same policy.
But what really scares me that if Kerry gets elected, Indian and Jewish lobby would force democrats to re-open Dr. Qadeer's case and impose sanctions on Pakistan. If nothing else there would be an increased pressure on Pakistan to open its nuclear labs to international nuclear agencies, which Pakistan has declined to do so far. I have no doubt that Dr. Qadeer’s network was involved in some wrongdoings. Therefore, I have stated many time at this forum that Dr Qadeer’s case is a time bomb and it will explode one day. With President Bush back in office and given the current dynamics between Musharraf and Bush, one may hope that this time bomb will not explode in near future.
So far, Ummah problems are concerned, they are important but for us, Pakistan’s benefits are most important. Pakistan is not responsible for the whole Islamic world.

I would think that living in the US (or really anywhere in the word) slowing nuclear proliferation and those who provide nuclear technology to rogue states would be more be more important than the consequences of "increased pressure on Pakistan to open its nuclear labs to international nuclear agencies"
Hey if the govt kisses the Bush's ass, why not the leading news agency in the country?
The newspaper Jang (which owns Geo) has always just sucked up to whatever government is in power in Pakistan.
Those who consider Bush's re-election in Pakistans favor assume the following:
1) No one other than Army (Mushraff) will have American approval & will be willing to work with US government.
2) Kerry Administration will cut back relations to Pakistan.
3) Bush Administration will stay the same in second term.
4) Army (Mushraff) is generally good for Pakistan
And I don't agree with any of them.
I was watching Geo and Ary etc and found it a bit odd that our Pakistan channels are more obsessed with this race and US election than some of the other channels from the neighboring country. Most of the news items seemed to be dedicated to US elections and very little news about Pakistan itself thesedays.

Ditto.
usually i'd say oh i love pk n all this but in this i could care or less. imma muslim first... and paki 2nd. and antibol u r so off topic. lol u like my quote thingy that much?? and i've never heard of knee jerk reaction. something you came up with? anyway before another big argument erupts, i'm done with this.
I was watching GEO TV and they were promoting pakistanis to vote for bush this election! If i was a betting man, id say the pakistani goverment was funding these commericals so pakistanis living in U.S.A can vote for bush. My personal guess is that, if kerry comes in power, he will probably cut down the financial aid to pakistan and maybe later on put some sanctions on pakistan?
But i dont agree with bush being re-elected. He’s done too much damage specialy to the arab countries. Perhaps its time for some changes!
Bush is good with Pakistan as long he needs us. After that he will kick your arses as soon as he will be done with you. All you Bush ass kissers here are suffering from amnesia. You forgot what America did to Pakistan after we helped him in defeating USSR in Afghanistan. They turned their back on us and they will do the same. How Pakistan is benefiting from US right now? What accomplishments you have seen so far? We still haven’t got those F-16s that we already paid 2 decades ago. Even if we get them now they will be considered obsolete. If you guys consider America’s ass kissing and return of some financial aid which goes in to the pockets of your beloved politicians than good luck to you. Sharam nahin ati bhikaariyon bheek mangtay hoay?
lets move this discussion to pak forum.

Errr... we will never get those F-16s. The USA shipped to Pakistan in the early 1990s a volume of soya beans (which do have practical industrial application) equivalent in value to the money we paid for the F-16s.
Essentially, Pakistan was fully refunded for those planes ... in beans.
- right on spot maddy but wonder why people fail to acknowledge that. When I worked in DC that dealt with such arms control issues, I remember the annoyed look on some American’s faces who knew what the deal was. Though no one really condoned that act on part of US and surely it was a breach of agreement, the fact that we were adequately compensated for with those beans
doesn’t go down too well with us.

I guess we must be in eternal debt to the US for such a gracious gesture: paying back F-16's with beans.
I know man! What's up with all those Anti Kerry ads and other US election stuff they keep on discussing in the talk shows?? That's pathetic! Why the hell do we care who wins there! All the wars are still gonna continue anyway. Kerry might put a pause on those for a while but they will continue after a while and our Muslims will keep dying like that. To hell with them if Kerry won't be good enough for Pakistan we should be more worried about those who're dying coz of US's war on terror. It's just a propaganda Bush is playing with everyone, going to mosques and doing other stuff for Muslim community in US, what everyone wants is the END OF ALL WARS. Simple. Which, Bush won't do.

I would second that!
As I said earlier. Give us a context where anti-Kerry things were uttered.
Was it paid TV ad (I have no problem with that)
or News (I do have problem with that)
or commentary? (I have no problem with that).
Religion doesn’t issue you a passport, or an ID, but a country does. You can not be a Budhist first and Cambodian second either.
Religion is a metaphysical thingy, something you practice. A country is a physical entity where you live. Whenever you put your country second, you become a traitor. So quit following this Mullahtic logic.
On the contrary, your quote is missing one important organ that Allah gave us to help solve problem. It is called brain. Use it or lose it.
Problem to the solution is to do what we did. Get rid of the worse Pakistani channel and get ARY/GEO
