The mother of all ills is bad governance. Pakistan needs an out-of-the-box management system to get back on track.

So we should stay with Gilani for another five years?
Re: Imran Khan's Address at PTI Energy Seminar (February 26, 2012)
There are three or four threads on the same topic here.. i guess every mod want to start his own thread on the topic but none of the thread contains the real speech which talks about the solution to the crisis?
Re: PTI’s energy seminar
Hope this strategy will be implemented like it is reported in this video
yes there is no corruption in PTI and they will eliminate corruption in 90 days and pigs will fly and Pakistani football team will win next world cup

And for this reason, we should leave the seasoned corrupt politicians in power, and let them help hasten the bankruptcy of Pakistan.
Imran Khan has always made it clear that it is high level corruption that he will eliminate in 90 days. I know it is a tall claim, but the fact remains, that corruption starts at the top. The junior folks are corrupt because the senior ones are. Tackling senior corrupts is easy, since the seniors are fewer in number, they are more in the limelight, and their corruption is on a mega-scale. Once that is cleared up, the junior level will come in line on its own.

Yeah i can see that, it will start by following the foot marks of the other corrupt parties, steal electricity because that is what we can do today!!! Póot kay paóoN palnay say hi nazr aa rahay haiN..
Somebody who is making such tall claims is stealing electricity... yeah tells the difference between the claims and the act!!!

It's your personal choice not to believe IK when he says the corruption from the top will reduce and merit will be the criteria for the appointment of top jobs which are presently sold to the highest bidder by the son/family of the PM (and that's not a secret amongst the bureaucratic community of the country who often put the price tag on which job sold for what amount in their community gossip)..
As far as I am concerned I believe there is no credibility issue with IK. He himself is not corrupt and I believe merit will be followed for key appointments which can do a great deal for the problem solving in our country. You are right.. may be the pigs won't fly but surely the pathetic down turn can be reversed if corruption is dealt with and merit is followed..
Re: PTI's policy seminars.... ?
^^ When we will reach the bridge we'll talk about that, the issue at hand is, the man who vow to eliminate corruption, the man who day in and out do the mantra of corruption and bad-governance and blame everyone of everything bad in Pakistan and bla bla bla cannot stop** his own party from stealing electricity.**.. pehlay party ko control karo, phir mulk ko corruption free kernay key baat karo.. today he may have best credibitlity rate in eyes of masses, how long he can keep it that way... only his actions and time will tell
about future claims, we'll talk about them at their maturity... and everyone makes tall claims and all those are assessed based on the current performance... and above incident is example of current performance....

IK presently does not have any means to investigate or prosecute electric theft or any other crime for the time being. If accusations are made against anyone from his party.. it's the duty of the government to investigate and initiate law implementation. Until proper investigations take place accusations are accusations only. Just for the sake of criticism.. indulging in these petty accusations and criticizing IK is not fair.
As far as IK's personal credibility is concerned.. there is a general consensus in the country that he is an upright man of integrity. Because of this reputation he radiates hope amongst a lot of Pakistanis like me who feel pathetic at the current affairs..
Re: PTI's policy seminars.... ?
^^ My friend, petty things creates mountains of mess... there is a well known practical saying, if you do small things right, you will do bigger things better..
The party as per the news has been accused of theft, they could have avoided it easily but i guess it is in our culture to steal the resources and later call it a petty thing... you may call it petty thing because it is petty to you, Zardari calls stealing of USD 60 million petty because this amount is nothing for him, NS smiles sarcastically when anyone tells him that his business in KSA is around USD 100 million saying it is petty.. ofcourse if you have billions in your account million seems to be petty....
and yes, when everyone is stealing electricity, what difference it makes if IK or his party does the same!!! after all it is his right! and like jiyalas and matwalas, now it is Nirales who are defending the wrong doings.... good CHANGE

Sorry my friend.. I am not defending any criminality. I am criticizing the government's failure in acting against criminality. You said some PTI member was accused of stealing electricity.. ok government should act against him irrespective of the fact that he belongs to PTI. As long as he is prosecuted following the proper provisions of law. Until then we should avoid these accusation to malign anyone including IK.
As far as Zardari and Nawaz Sharif are concerned.. they possess assets beyond their means. As they are in control of Pakistan government.. and they are in-charge of all the government machinery.. they do not allow the investigations to take place against themselves. Neither do they answer or give details about the source of their financial windfalls.
Under these circumstances we can not equate the allegations on PTI with the Zardari and Nawaz Sharif.
In any case even if some PTi guy has stolen electricity.. I don't think Imran Khan will come to his rescue like Gillani is trying to rescue Zardari by defying court orders. I think if tomorrow Nawaz Sharif's party comes to power.. their PM will also rescue the criminalities of Nawaz Sharif. I may be wrong (and only time will tell) but I strongly believe imran Khan will not protect any criminal act done by anyone who-so-ever... and that's why I support PTI and think they should be in power to rescue Pakistan from these criminalities..
Re: PTI's policy seminars.... ?
hanibal, i am sorry to say that your posts in this thread are extremely biased.
You obviously won't be convinced no matter what Imran does which is fair enough if Imran was competing against equally competent and loyal leader but if you really believe Nawaz Sharif is the answer to our problems then it is such a shame.
I still can't believe how a knowledgeable poster like you is making a big deal out of this knowing very well that Imran doesn't organise this himself and didn't order to steal electricity, it doesn't mean those responsible shouldn't be punished but blaming Imran Khan for this is laughable.

So tom. if IK comes to power and there is some wrong doing what will be your stance? IK does not control that particular department directly??? the leader of a party should take blame of the wrong doing of his party unless he takes some action to rectify it....
By your logic, Altaf Hussain is an angel, he have not been involved in any Bhatta Khori nor he have been directly involved in any killing of May 12... how can anyone associate him and his party with the wrong doing of few individuals who claims to be part of his party...

If tomorrow IK comes in power.. it will not turn everyone to angels. There will be people in key positions trying to do corruption. But the difference will be that IK will not defend the corruptions and will not try to obstruct justice by defying court orders or by trying to put his cronies for investigating (or not investigating) crimes. He will not obstruct the the implementation of law intentionally to protect the criminals due to affiliation with his own party. He will not try to steal the evidence against crimes (like Wajid Sham ul Hassan did in Switzerland) to protect the crimes committed by Zardari.

1st let him take action against his own party members who ever involved in this theft!!! i am not asking head of those culprits but there should be something to tell us that what you are saying is right!!!

IK is not police/prosecution/judiciary/investigating authority. He can only take action from the party platform (expel from the party.. the most he can do) if the culprits are actually prosecuted by the judiciary after investigating authorities/prosecution take them to court. Just on mere allegation Ik can not take action against these alleged electricity thieves. I have never heard IK saying that criminals from his party should be spared because of party affiliation.. unlike PPP wallas who demand all the criminal charges should be dropped against their Chairman..

So when it comes to expecting justice from a government that has been in power for over 4 years (plus 2 previous corrupt tenures), you are relaxed, and no questions are ever asked from your feudal lords. But when it comes to Imran Khan, he must provide answers about power theft yesterday.
I can safely say that most of the people who like Imran Khan, and wish to vote for him, have no problem saying that they will oust him if he does not live up to their expectations. Imran is perhaps the only politician I have seen in Pakistan, who is counter questioned by his own party members/leaders, and he replies honestly, without prejudice. Have you, or any other PPP loyalist ever tried to say anything critical to Zardari to his face? Try criticizing Benazir and see what happens. Same culture exists in MQM. A word against Altaf from one of their own, and that person will never be heard from again.
Folks who dont want to give Imran a chance are simply worried. Tsunami or no tsunami, PPP and PML are on shakt grounds
