PTI unveils party manifesto **

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) announced its manifesto during a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday.

While addressing the press conference, party member Shireen Mazari said that according to the party manifesto, justice will be made equal for all.

“There will be no difference between the rich and the poor,” said Mazari.

Regarding the Karachi unrest issue, the PTI manifesto stated that they will start a movement against any political party, who has militant wings or holds arms.

“Our ulterior motive is to make Karachi free from arms and ammunition.”

The manifesto also outlined that the budget of the defense sector will be rationalised and promised to put an end to load shedding two to three years after they come to power.

The party policy further avowed that railway ministry will be abolished and Pakistan International Airline (PIA) will be removed from defense ministry’s supervision and will become directly accountable to the public.

“Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) and PTV will be made independent bodies and, for good governance, all the government files and records will be made public online,” the manifesto stated.

PTI Chief Imran Khan said he is “proud” of his party.

“No other party has made any such policies, if you want you can compare our manifesto to theirs,” Khan claimed.

Some salient features of the manifesto are:

• To bring the nation out of the folds of ‘War on Terrorism’.
• Establish a 150,000 seat call centre to take service calls and facilitate e-governance. This would generate 250,000 new jobs.
• Establish a whistle-blowers programme, which will allow citizens to report unsavoury behavior by individuals or entities via a dedicated phone line.
• Announce local government elections schedule within the first 100 days of coming into power.
• Introduce regulations to ensure that the fees structure of the private schools is commensurate with the quality of education they provide.
• Engage professional services to track overseas cash and non-cash assets owned by Pakistanis.
• Withdraw all indemnities, privileges and rebates or subsidies extended to elected representatives and government officials, including the President and Prime Minister.

I liked what he said about the bait of minimum wages. He said “one party announced 12k and one said 15k minimum wage. PTI can take a lead by saying 20k minimum wage. But we are realistic. We will see if the government can afford it or not. We won’t put any unnecessary pressure on the government kitty for the sake of a political stunt.”

Isey kehtey heiN leader… what a man :salute:

Re: PTI unveils party manifesto

Overall I have found PTI's manifesto to be the best among all their competitors.

Re: PTI unveils party manifesto

This seems like a stupid idea. You can regulate employment conditions, health and safety measures, building structures, not 'quality of education' or 'fees structure'. The parents can do that themselves anyways.

Re: PTI unveils party manifesto

Key points for me

  • Devolution of power to union councils level. Thats how good governance start to emerge from within the people.

  • Reduction of ministries from 65 to 17-18. No exchequers money to be spent on lavish and good for nothing ministries.

  • Genuine political intent, plan and policies to counter terrorism and corruption.

  • Prime minister house and governors houses to be abandoned and converted into public places.

Re: PTI unveils party manifesto

I don't think is meiN koi burai hey. Private institutions have made it into the most profitable business in the country. And since it is a business, government's role for consumer protection makes sense.

Re: PTI unveils party manifesto

The problem is that 'quality of education' is intangible and cannot be measured. Quality of, for example, cars or medicines can be measured and regulated. It should be left to parents to decide if they fees they are paying is too much or too little for the kind of education their kids are getting. They should, ideally, be the best judges. The government doesn't intervene into, say, quality clothing being produced and the prices being charged to the customers. They should only intervene if there is some kind of fraud or misrepresentation going on.

Re: PTI unveils party manifesto

Nothing new in this all ,even it is less than his previous slogans . Nothing on issue of Ehtsab .How can he ask for accountability now .
Many fudels and corrupt people are now in his party and accountability can also reach to his charity collection so forget it Kids .
Is there some thing leading to any change . Have he said any thing in this to meet the regional issues .

Re: PTI unveils party manifesto

typical IK bashing without even reading the details. There is a full section on making NAB independent and unbiased. Go read it. If you take out your ‘roti kapra makaan’ glasses then you will see there are plenty of new things. But aapko samajh nahi aani. Aapko sirf bhutto bhutto samajh aana hai

  • Reduction in number of ministries
  • Reduction in government expenditures… demolition of governer houses, CM and PM houses and by giving no subsidy, rebates or privileges to President, PM, CMs and elected representatives.

There are plenty. Go read it on http://www.insaf.pk/docs/PTImanifesto.pdf and compare it with PPP and PMLN manifestos with ‘unbiased’ eyes. Its all doable and realistic.

Re: PTI unveils party manifesto

I disagree.
Anything can be measured as long as you set standards. The same applies to education. You can set benchmarks and measure against those to justify fees.

Right now private schools in Pakistan are all about who started them and where they came back from......not at all about the quality of student they are producing.

Without setting benchmarks that align Pakistan with international standards, Pakistanis will continue to pay through the nose for education that is not recognized anywhere in the world.

Re: PTI unveils party manifesto

as soon as we hit the bolded part…your suggestion to AP falls apart…
