JEDDAH: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has announced that his party will contest the Senate elections to be held in March 2015 but would not return to the assemblies till the formation of the Judicial Commission.
He was addressing a press conference here before returning to Pakistan after performing Umra along with his wife. He said that it was their constitutional right to contest the Senate elections.
He said that they had resigned from the assemblies but the resignations were not being accepted by the government. Imran said that there would have been no petrol or other crises in Pakistan had the people been appointed on merit.
He said the PPP was playing the role of a friendly opposition while he was highly disappointed by the role of former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry.He said that Iftikhar Chaudhry tried to cover up the rigged elections and emphasised that without an independent judiciary, there was no possibility of transparent elections. He emphasised that for democracy, transparent elections, independent judiciary and media are the pre-requisites. He said that there would be no use of holding the elections under the present system.
Imran criticised the Pakistan Muslim League-N government saying it had broken the saying it has broken the corruption record of Zardari. He said that due to non-availability of furnace oil power loadshedding was increasing which he termed as the height of inefficiency of the government.
He pointed out that people are desperate to get electricity and oil as long queues of vehicles had been seen at the gas stations. He said in the past the government blamed ‘Dharna’ for every wrong and it should now tell the people why petrol and electricity are not available as there is no more ‘Dharna’.
In reply to a question, Imran said that they want a powerful Judicial Commission while the government is bent upon to appoint the one that is powerless and weak. He expressed his deep grief over the passing away of King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia and said that his services for Islam and Muslims would long be remembered. He said that during Umra he prayed for the martyrs of Peshawar and for the prosperity, development and stability of Pakistan.

Open offer to audit KPK elections has been there from day 1. Neither JUIF nor PMLN came forward to accept the offer, as they know the end result will be the same. By elections already proved that.
Secondly, whats there to 'enjoy' in KPK? Its the toughest province to govern. If you are talking financial corruption, then remember that Benazir/Zardari era is over in KPK, and perhaps even in Punjab. Try to salvage whatever you are left with in interior Sindh. (or maybe a couple of choonga Punjab seats they may get when PTI resignations are accepted there and byelections are held)
A big U turn, so big that it has become a circle. It was tareen for which he and his party men resigned and for the same guy he is contesting the polls. Sindh mpas have become qurbani Kay bakray in the process.

PTI is only participating in KPK senate elections. Center and Punjab situation remains the same.
haha how does that makes any diff? IK said he will not contest ANY elections under present election commision. Those were his words. So, how come the Senate elections are halal now? Btw, PTI is contemplating on returning to Punjab assembly too b/c they think they can get at least 1 senate seat from there with help of JI.

Sources told that the PTI will nominate its seven candidates on seven Senate seats out of total 12 from the Khyber Pakhtonkhwa.
Earlier in a press conference today from Jeddah, PTI chief Imran Khan said his party would contest the senate elections, but added that PTI won’t return to the assemblies until judicial commission to probe election rigging was formed.

the reason PTI is becoming a party of U turns is becasue just like any other party in pakistan it is just a one man show.
PPP has become a party of compromises and soft opposition becasue its chief zardari is man of compromises to promote his agenda....
PMLN has become a party of favoritism with no meritocracy whatsoever becasue nawaz only thinks and sees through the lens of kashmiri bradari
and PTI has become a party of U turns because its cheif hazrat Imran khan is a king of U turns..he has no idea when to open his mouth and when not to...what to say and what not to....and none of his stooges have any influence on the party matters...they will just show up in tv programs to defend whatever imran does or says in a shameless fashion just like stooges in every other party do.
That’s the point, they should have stayed in the assemblies and participated in senate elections across the board. Pti will be going back to the assemblies as well if the judicial commission is formed, they’d have gotten much more than this if imran khans ego didn’t come in between. Now he is running between pillars and posts to get a face saver.
Ik's latest statement is that they wont be coming back to the assemblies which is a u-turn from the stance he had given just 2-3 days back. We used to make fun of Shahbaz Sharif's josh e khitabat, IK's change in statements is much more rapid. I'm sorry to say but he isn't one who is worth of being a statesman...
He should have thought of the plan of action starting from his Azadi march. The planning and execution of the march was so bogus that he has had to take u-turns on almost everything he had said then. Resignations from KPK, civil disobedience, not going back until resignation of PM, sending money through illegal channels, umpire raising his finger, and now participating in Senate elections. He has got nothing so far, and after tremendous u-turns he has to settle with a judicial commission (which is peanuts compared to his initial demands). He could have gotten a better deal in initial days of his march.
If he had some sense he should have said those things which he could deliver. He would always tell truth to the people, wasn't this what he had been telling us? He should have performed in KPK to make it as a selling point for the next elections and raise issues of national importance in the parliament as well as out in the streets. The way he has behaved in recent times he has only cemented the claims of his critics that he is immature to lead the country.
