Great intentions from your side, but slightly racist I would say. Balochistan is not OWNED by balochs. More than half the population of Balochistan is non-Baloch including Urdu Speaking, Punjabi, Pathans, Sindhis, Siraikis. All these nations have been suffering along with the Balochs in Balochistan since no jobs in Balochistan means even lesser jobs for these nations as unfortunately whatever meager jobs become available are allotted on lisanist in Balochistan. You only have to walk into ANY govt. department in Balochistan to see that pushtuns and Balochs have divided the jobs 50-50 regardless of competence or any other thing.
So when people talk about Balochistan, they should also be addressing the grievances of all nationalities living in Balochistan.
Not all true. Baloch are under-represented at every level in Balochistan. The government jobs in Balochistan are have an over-representation from Punjabis, Hazara's, Urdu speakers and Pashtuns. Most Policemen are Punjabis. The jobs in banks are mainly occupied by Punjabis and Urdu speakers. Teaching and lecturing positions have an over-representation of non-baloch too.
Balochistan is an artificial province created by the british , followed and supporter by their brown shaib boot lickers.. The provinces need to be redrawn. It is no longer a colonial country or is it but with a different type of colonist?

What about FC which has been entrusted with law and order of the province?

So how do you propose it is "redrawn"? Btw, don't tell me that you expect illiterate balochis to be teachers. Next, it would be BLA peeps who would be given pilot licenses to fly PIA planes for "fairness purposes".
Do you think there is no one in Balochistan who is literate, or are they any less (callibre wise) as compared to the rest of the country that they cant be trained to do the jobs? Leave PIA aside I think in 5 years time we wouldnt have planes to fly by the way.
Look I am all for giving balochis jobs (giving ownership to them of their own areas), but it is very logical that if a place has been neglected both by the govt and the intransigence of the sardars that there would be deficiencies in the human capital of that area.
I have seen far more incompetent Punjabis working in government departments, its upto the government when they will start treating all people of the state equal things will start improving. I have studied with Baloch people during my masters and I didnt find them any less (they were professors in Khuzdar Engg. uni by the way). The Baloch feel that the government wants to convert them into a minority in their province thats the reason why they send people from other provinces to work there and seeing the policies of the government this argument doesnt seem far fetched.
Anyways by labelling Baloch populace as BLA is similar to labelling pashtun as taleban and not too long ago urdu speaking people as terrorists. We will have to come out of this mindset!

I agree with you Ali. But I am also of the view that Balochistan has been melodramatized to some extent as well. I hold the entire country equally responsible for what has been happening in Balochistan. And I also agree that even if Baloch people lack in merit, they should still be given maximum support and opportunities to run their province, but allow me to say that Balochis should also understand that target-klling Punjabis or Pashtuns will bring them no good. It's going to be a tough asking, but the first step for an ordinary Balochi to wriggle out of sardari system has to come from himself. It's a dirty war between the establishment and Baloch sardards that has put the ordinary Balochi a thousands years back. Balochi society — not sardars — as a whole must step forward or nothing will change in that province ever.

Agreed, but no one will come forward when they are receiving dead bodies of their comrades every day. The sardari system is not only present in Balochistan, its almost every where in Pakistan, go to interior Sindh and Seraiki Belt. Besides sardars, lets leave Baloch areas, go to the pashtun ones in Balochistan there is not that much difference in the development between them.
Do you know that in 1972 Balochistan assembly passed a resolution for ending the sardari system in Balochistan, and as a result the government was fired and an operation started there. The situation wont improve unless the state deals with all provinces and ethnics living in the country equally.
Anyhow, war is going on there if the Baloch will receive dead bodies they will also kill people whom they can find. This happens every where, it cant be that you keep repressing people and then do not expect a reaction from the other side.
Now we have got this situation which is very complex, what is the way out?

Ummmm... start by building human capital there? I remember a Baluch sardar's interview on TV a few years ago. He asked a question from the government on national TV. He wanted to know exactly which sardar, out of the 23 most influential ones, has ever resisted opening of a school/college in his area? He could tell one sardar had issues with a co-education school in his area and that's that.
If government can go in and explore for natural resources regardless of resistance from local tribal chiefs, why can't they do it when it comes to opening schools and hospitals there? We (the other provinces) claim sovereignty over Baluchistan when it comes to rights of exploiting resources but blame sardari system when it comes to our duties of ensuring equitable development in all regions of Pakistan.

I have no doubt in my mind that the first step should be a total rollback of Balochistan policy set by the GHQ. Reppression is not a solution. I also believe that mainsteam political parties should also play a more proactive role in Balochistan so that military tribal actors coulndn't work in the political vacuum. Punjab is currently offering maximum number of scholarships for Balochi students, it's a very good step which should be followed by other provinces as well. I also believe that Punjab must lead the 'heal balchistan movement' becuase until and unless Punjab is involved in political rehabilitation of Balochistan, the establishment will continue to play its games in the province. There has to ba multifaceted move to address the issue, but it should not have a military shade in it.
Here is one example, that the well head cost for Balochistan is the lowest but the well head cost for Punjab and KP are quite good. There are many of things like these which our governments do not look into:
Balochistan has been getting merely Rs22 per thousand cubic feet while Sindh is getting Rs126 and Punjab Rs180 for some of the wells. There has been a demand for increase in the well head price of the gas in Balochistan bringing it at par with Sindh and Punjab. If the price were equated with Sindh gas, Balochistan would get additional revenue of at least Rs4 billion.

You really think that bugti, whose idea of justice was people were innocent if they didn't burn their feet by walking over burning coal, would be very progressive? Talk is cheap, but what I see is the target killing of teachers and shelling of chinese workers who dare open a mine. Only some areas, ironically run by smaller tribes, have had some success operating mines. Saindak itself was a pain to start up because of this bs.
PS What about running railway lines from gawadar up to china? Even though china has been proactive with sardars in the coastal region, there is still opposition by these sardars to any development. They were completely set against gawadar instead of pushing for balochi empowerment in that area. Lets face it that no real progress would come to balochis until these sardars either wise up or are trash canned in the dustbin of history.
PS 2 I never said all balochis were BLA, but I was talking in regards to characters like this sanaullah baloch. Elites like him have pretty much hijacked BSO and run BLAs while they suppress their own population simultaneously. They want their own police (levies) under sardar control, but where was that police when people were walking over coal or bugti was expelling kalpars in the past?
If we can pay billions to IPPs and rental power opreators, why Balochistan shouldn’t be paid what it deserves? What else will you call it if not daylight robbery?
No Pakistani province hold as much of potential as Balochistan does. And progress of Balochistan will actually accelerate progress of Pakistan. There are hundreds of things that we can talk about Balochistan, but I just wish someone please call back army from there AT ONCE!
