PTI fails to deliver in first year

To be fair they were too busy with dharnas…so you can’t blame them for not delivering on their promises.

PTI fails to deliver in first year

PESHAWAR - Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) came into power exactly one-year back in militancy-shattered Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province with claims to change the common man’s fortune; however, it is still far behind to fulfil many of its pledges.
As promised by the PTI’s top brass time and again that it will hold local bodies’ elections within 90 days after coming to power, but it’s over a year now and even the election process is not in sight yet. The reason for this delay is cited that in order to have more fair and transparent elections, the PTI wants it to conduct through biometric system.

The PTI witnessed many ups and downs from within and outside during its one-year rule. On May 31, 2013, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak took oath of his office. The coalition government of PTI, JI and QWP was yet to start functioning fully when three members of the provincial cabinet affiliated with the QWP, including Sikandar Sherpao, Bakht Baidar Khan and Ibrar Hussian, were removed from their offices on corruption charges just within five and half-months. Later, the PTI removed Shaukat Yousafzai, health and labour minister, and Yasin Khalil, advisor to the CM, for poor performance.

During the one-year, three women lawmakers Maliha Khan, Zareen Riaz and Nageena Khan were nominated as chairpersons of district development advisory committees (DDAC), ignoring the opposition parties. However, when the pressure was built up on the government, they were replaced with opposition lawmakers. This decision was lauded by the opposition while those who were removed opposed it openly.
As promised, a mass rapid transit system for the city of Peshawar is under the consideration of the PTI-led government but it is still a dream. The Ehtesab Commission announced by the provincial government is yet to start work formally, as it is still under process. However, the much commendable laws - right to information and right to services - have not only been passed but have also been actively implemented, for which the government is appreciated in and outside Pakistan.

During the 365-day rule, there happened the incident of Dera Ismail Khan jailbreak on July 30, 2013, in which 12 persons were killed while 443 prisoners escaped. The jailbreak report is to be unveiled yet.
The PTI government presented Rs 344 billion annual budget last year and allocated Rs 118 billion for Annual Development Program (ADP). However, the minimum share of this allocated money has reportedly been utilised.
Moreover, a 14-lawmaker forward bloc emerged within the PTI after having reservations over some ministers. This shattered the political cohesiveness of the party a lot.

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

^ chaly ap khush ho jai, can we talk about over all governance of all provinces, why not balance the thread rather than attacking only one party????

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

There's a marked difference between kpk of today and yesterday. The only thing which the party has not been able to do so far is conduct the local government polls, which could make a big difference especially in rural (forsaken) areas. Development should be distributed in the whole province and not concentrated in some parts. The party wants biometric system for the elections, but ECP is not ready as yet. The party should strive to undertake the local government system ASAP. When comparing kpk with other provinces (especially Punjab) we should keep in mind that this province has borne the brunt of the so called war on terror during the past decade.

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

PTI is the only hope left for Pak ...

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

^ Get ready for tamatars

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

This thread is about PTI's governance, so lets keep it restricted to PTI/KPK. We can always have other threads for criticizing other provinces. Why can't we evaluate one province/party without having to criticize/bash others?

Not really, PTI is one spark, there will be many other sparks in Pakistan, don't lose hope :)

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

ek to main inn naam nihaad hopes se boht aajiz hoon :bummer:

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

I think there is already a thread for kpk/pti. after 1 year why only kpk or pti I think we should discuss Pakistan after 1 year how things have changed and one by one discuss each province not comparing them because every province is going through different circumstances. lets be fair I know op just opened this thread because he don't like pti

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

Shamraz is a PTI Specialist. He does not show up unless there is something against the PTI. Everything PTI does and does not, is a failure :)

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

^ tht was exactly my point

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

Though you summed it up fairly well, one thing I would want to add to your remarks is the fact that PTI's 1-year government is compared with PML's 7-year (on a stretch) government in a province which is financially and resource-wise happen to be one of the strongest regions in the country. It is like pitching a 7th grade student against a 1st grader. This is what you call spurious analysis.

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

I wouldnt judge PTI (or any other provincial govt) for one year performance only. They won the elections and are entitled to have 4 years before being evaluated and compared as to what they promised and what they delivered.

Overall as a national party or at the center, so far their policies are very disappointing and hopeless.

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

PTI to save Pakistan from Ganja bros !

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

Re: PTI fails to deliver in first year

One year is never enough to judge a govt, on the same token, the first year shows the priorities of the govt!!! so far what came out is nothing, no major or minor project and for some odd reason, in almost every other press conference on issues (dharna programme or allegations) by Imran Khan, the CM of KPK is sitting right beside him... isn't his job is to run the whole province???
