Re: PTI becoming a drawing room party?
We tolerated PPP for 5 years. It is only fair to give the new governments a few months to set their feet. 2 months is a very short time to criticize the govt for policies. You can criticize them for decisions right away, but as for policies, you have give them time. Decisions, like GST hike, no salary hike for public servants etc had an immediate impact, and there was an effective opposition to those from day 1. However, things like power cuts, terrorism etc will require some time for policy drafting, and implementation. Remember, in most cases, we are starting from scratch, because the previous govt did virtually nothing.
Additionally, there are echoes of PPP and PML-N nexus rising up again from the ashes in order to serve their mutual interests. 100s of committees have been formed by the govt, and apparently, Imran Khan has not been assigned to any committee. The public accounts committee chairmanship is quite likely going to Asif Zardari’s sister…a sign of reconciliation by PML-N, as most of the cases pending in front of PAC are those of PPP. Perhaps a handshake between PPP and PML-N is already in the offing, where PML-N will ‘allow’ PPP to stall cases against PPP in the PAC, and also turn a blind eye to stuff that PML-N does. That is where it gets tricky, because, essentially, it fractures the opposition, and leaves PTI all alone. Perhaps that is the motive of these parties to begin with.
