We are loosing All kind of SMS and VOICE Packages.
Yes Ladies and Gentlemen you read it right. according to famous IT website PROPAKISTANI “PTA asked Telecom companies to stop all kind of Voice and SMS bundles, that include daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly packages by September 2nd, 2013 and submit a compliance report to the authority.”

Now what do you say, i am not sure either it is Breaking or heart Breaking news
Lets share some thoughts

Re: News: Either Breaking or Heart Breaking

According to Anusha Rehman (IT Minister) these packages are corrupting the youth. So this is purely a step to safeguard our coming generations.

Re: News: Either Breaking or Heart Breaking

Well, in the absence of SMS packages, there is internet. Viber, whatsapp, BBM are all free with internet access. So we can expect this to be followed by blockades on the internet.....Whats next?

Re: News: Either Breaking or Heart Breaking

Dont give her ideas now... :( She can get them banned too through PTA.

Re: News: Either Breaking or Heart Breaking

Ali, why are you complaining?

Are you part of the corrupted youth ?!?? :ast:

Re: News: Either Breaking or Heart Breaking

nah nah guys do you really think Government are concerned about youth's future!!! although the step
you know what we are addicted to that stuff now
so this timei am damn sure that behind the termination of Call & SMS packages a secret alliance of telecom companies are involved. now they want to skim maximum profit with government's cut!!!

Re: News: Either Breaking or Heart Breaking

just curious to know...is she a Hindu married to a Muslim? Anushka is a Hindu name!

Re: News: Either Breaking or Heart Breaking

her name is not Anush*k*a, but Anusha

Re: News: Either Breaking or Heart Breaking

Anushka is a Hindu name. However, many Muslims name their daughters Anusha which is without the “k”. It has Persian origins. I have also heard someone tell me it means “Jannat ki hawa”. However, this website has different meanings:
Anoosha - انوشه- Name meaning, Islamic and Muslim Baby girl names.

Just thought to clarify. I know post is off-topic.

Re: News: Either Breaking or Heart Breaking

The packages are corrupting the youth but internet, tv, cable is not. I want to know who comes up with this stuff?? I bet they have special meetings to come up with how to hurt the poor people even more.

Re: News: Either Breaking or Heart Breaking

The reasons could be others, this is the excuse they are using.

Re: News: Either Breaking or Heart Breaking

History btati hai jo b cheez banned ki jaey ya mana kr di jaey , wo pehle se b ziada precious aur mehngi ho jati hai n us mein hamesha doosre raste ka scope barh jata hai , So isey business point of view se dekha jaey tou better hai !

Re: News: Either Breaking or Heart Breaking

There are actually a couple of positives when it comes to banning SMS packages. Not only it will cut down the number of silly adverts we receive per day, it will also add some value to the messages sent and received on occasions like Eid and New year.

PTA should also bind telecom companies to give subscribers the option of whether or not they want to receive promotional messages from their service provider. I don’t need messages like “Dial 8558 and get tips of fair skin from our beauty expert Zulaikha in just 10p+t/m”, but I can’t do anything to stop them. :naraz:

PTA bans all chat packages on cell phones, day or night

How come this is not illegal? And who is PTA to regulate who and when you can talk to who? The country going in reverse in terms of progress.

PTA bans all chat packages on cell phones, day or night - thenews.com.pk

LAHORE: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has instructed all the cellular operators of the country to immediately stop all kinds of chat packages, including voice and SMS, at any time of the day.

According to directive No CPD-1(227) 13-PTA, dated August 29 2013 with subject ‘Directive relating to packages offered by CMTOs contrary to moral values of society’, issued by the authority, cellular operators continue voice and SMS package (bundle offers) with different names despite a ban imposed by the PTA.

A PTA official has confirmed that the notification has been issued in this regard. The PTA has banned all kinds of late night packages through directive no CPD-1(227) 12-PTA dated November 14, 2012. However, the cellular operators start selling these packages with different names and times.

Later, the PTA conducted a comprehensive survey through its zonal offices and services divisions to verify the implementation on its directive issued to the telecom industry. The survey revealed that the chat packages (voice and SMS) are still operational under different names in clear violation of the PTA directives.

“Keeping in view the foregoing, all cellular mobile operators are hereby once again directed to immediately stop all kinds of chat packages (voice and SMS) irrespective of time of the day and submit compliance by September 02, 2013,” the directive stated, a copy of which is available with The News.

Earlier, when the PTA had imposed a ban on night packages last year, all the cellular operators approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and later withdrew the petition when the PTA submitted some transcripts of mobile call recordings it had intercepted during late-night conversations of consumers with obscene contents. However, the cellular operators’ consortium had approached the Supreme Court over it and proceedings on their petition are still pending there.

The telecom industry officials said the PTA this time without consulting the stakeholders again issued a directive on packages which generated a major share of the industry revenue. They said they will decide the future course of action after a meeting.

Some say the industry will again approach the courts and also request the government to save the industry from complete collapse by stopping such bans.A senior official of a leading cellular operator said the majority of business community was using their voice bundle package in day timing which reduces their costs. He said the directive to completely ban any voice or SMS package is an injustice to the largest revenue-contributing industry. “This is the last nail in the coffin of most vibrant telecom sector of the region,” he lamented.

^ they called it miss-reporting, and clarify here: SMS and call bundles will not be banned: PTA – The Express Tribune

Re: PTA bans all chat packages on cell phones, day or night

so let me get this straight: They ban night packages but instead give away laptops. Laptops can be used for even greater sins, no?

Our politicians are not capable of any logical thinking.
