psychics - freaky or a blessing?

I was chatting to an older colleague in his office who is into alternative therapies and holistic healing - he is a reiki master on the side and does a whole lot of other stuff. His other colleague walks into the office, in his late 40s. I’ve never met the other guy before but my friend tells him about me “she’s also one of our spiritual buddies”. This man says to me “I can see you have lower back issues” and I’m like huh!!! (lower back been bothering me lately and also an old injury). He also said “and your throat too” (I have had a severe case of tonsilitis which I’m just recovering from after 4 courses of antibiotics!) I said to him, “I’m going to leave before you pick anything else up!!” I’m still in shock because I look normal, healthy and well and nobody can say these things by merely glancing at me. Oh I forgot, as soon as he walked in he said “I can sense your aura”, very calmly…and not even looking at me.

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

wow

I think a blessing in a freaky way

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

But I guess you really have to have a heart to go see them. hmmm

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

This older colleague had provided information about you to this other psychic guy before hand , and it was a set up. If not this older guy, someone else must have informed this psychic.
There is no freaking way on earth that this guy would know about your back problem or throat problem.

Think it logically.
I am a psychic , a very humble and polite person , but I am dieing to show off my psychic powers  to a stranger . I have this burning desire to prove my psychic powers to the world that I meet this person ( you) first time in my life and I start blurting out stuff about the problems which bother you most ? why ?
Why did I not tell you which hospital you were born in , what is your mothers maid in name , how many rooms and bath rooms are in your home. What kind of dresses you love , what is your favorite flower , color , food, how many moles do you have . :silly: who is your secret crush.
Or psychics have their limitations ? why do they have those limitations ? :halo:

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

I think it is all just lucky guess work. :)

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

^yeah I agree with above. it was either set up or the guy was very observant and could pick up small cues about your behavior that led him to notice your health problems. And people can usually tell when someone enters the room, from noise they make or from the movement of air from their entrance into a room. If he's predicting your future and reading your palm, stay away since it is not allowed in islam - I think if you have this done, your prayers will not be accepted for 40 days.

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

dudes I know clairvoyancy is haraam but people do have a 6th sense when they have been practising healing work for a while. I found out later he is a Reiki Master. And no, my friend had not told this dude about me at all.

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

Call me crazy but I think some people are born with a 6th sense...I consider it a gift from Allah swt. Of course, it is upto these people how they want to use their gifts. Some people I know get very strong dreams and feelings about any situation they're dealing with...and the feelings are so strong...they feel compelled to follow them.

I dont feel a thing...doesnt matter what I eat, think about or do before I go to bed...nothing happens and I sleep like a log.

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

cat-woman I would highly recommend you to check out the new tv series "The Mentalist" precisely the kind of things your friend's colleague pointed out. Its all about keen observation. Bye the way, the show is pretty amazing !!!

Yes these are gifts from allah, but this is different from claiming to know someone's secrets and predicting the future. Allah helps us go in the right direction, a 6th sense is natural, but the other stuff is haraam, b/c it undermines the belief that allah swt knows all and is all powerful.

Agree with you, May Allah bless all of us.

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

I think it's an amazing gift to have if people can intuitively know things so clearly. I've experienced this myself but out of the blue. I can't just look at someone and state facts about them. Many things have happened in my life that I've known before hand. This could be from dreams or it comes to me out of the blue. There's no way these things could be coincidence because the events are too specific.

I pray to God to guide me in my life. But I never pray for HIM to tell me anything specific. It's just too weird though how many things I knew beforehand.

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

saimanyc, did you know these things would happen, or once they happened did you realize you'd known about it beforehand?

i am a skeptic. your mind can fool you and you wouldn't even know. i have felt at a few times that i am psychic/capable of seeing the future. all under cannabis, muddling past present and future. and i wouldnt be surprised if in some people it threw a curveball at itself every now and then even without an external hallucinogen.

I agree with Psquared that some people are endowed by Allah with a strong intuition. It is said that true dreams are from Allah and represent a small fraction of prophecy. I do not know how authentic the following hadith is:

Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from Ata ibn Yasar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "All that will be left of prophecy after me are the mubashshirat." They said, "What are the mubashshirat, Messenger of Allah?" He said, "The true dream which a man who is salih sees - or which is shown to him - is a forty-sixth part of prophecy."

At the same time consulting a fortune teller (astrologer, palmist, numerologist, tarot reader, etc) regarding your future is haram and it is said that your prayers won't be accepted for 40 days.

Perhaps these "fortune tellers" employ people to find out little bits of information regarding others. It is also said that** jinns** help provide the fortune tellers with some truths about an individual.....but never the entire information.

Another thing to keep in mind is the PT Barnum Effect. This is a technique often implemented by fortune tellers (astrologists, palmists, etc). It involves wording the "telling" in such a broad way that is applies to most people. For example, the fortune-teller might tell you, "Your childhood was a comfortable one with a few difficulties once in a while with family..........but your adolescence was a more challenging and emotional time period for you in regards to relationships" **This description will apply to the general population because adolescence tends to be a tough period for most guys and and women and it is during this phase of our life that we take an interest in romantic relationships. One who is not aware of the **PT Barnum strategy might assume that the fortune teller is a genius.

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

Cat-woman,

There is something else that I just realized. Eastern medicine sometimes relies on physical features of an individual to determine health problems.

For example, in India.....Ayurveda is practiced....where individuals are grouped in various categories (Vatta, Pita, etc).......based on their skin, hair type, and body structure. And then health concerns, treatments, and diet recommendations are determined based on what category the individual belongs to.

In China......some doctors believe that the ills taking place within your body will manifest themselves in your face and hair. They use face reading to determine what's going wrong inside your body. So, for example, breakouts along the cheeks indicate too much consumption of dairy products leading to congestion of lungs. Or red ears indicated stressed out adrenal glands.

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

stressed out adrenal glands? how do you stress out your adrenals?

Re: psychics - freaky or a blessing?

Queer, I haven't been here in a super long time. But to answer your question, there were some things I knew very specifically. I knew that my first child would be a very emotional girl and a Pisces. And I would have trouble understanding her. So she would be closer to her father because he would also be very emotional and a Scorpio.

I knew this in my teens and it seemed so silly to me. But it's exactly correct. I also knew that I would have another daughter with dark hair, who would look a lot like me and she would be misdiagnosed with a disease. She would turn out to be fine. But soon after I would become ill and diagnosed with something I had to deal with for the rest of my life.

I knew it wouldn't be cancer but something else that I could try to manage. It turned out be MS 15 years later. There are many other specific things like my future mother-in-law's personality. She's a larger than life, unusual person. I don't know how I knew so many things. But I think in my teens I needed to have a 'glimpse' of the future. I think I needed something to keep me going and know I had a future.
