Re: Psoriasis treatment

thanks for sharing ! a few men in my family has this disease. it is very painful to see. what my observation is that it is closely linked to level of mental stress .....the more the mental stress the more this disease grows. there is no complete cure for it , with medication it will reduce but will not disappear.

Re: Psoriasis treatment

i have suffered from psoriasis for the past 9 years :( unfortunately im still in the proccess of trial and error as to wha can stabilise my condition. I am currently on a cyto toxic immunosuppresant drug called methotrexate which is also used for chemotherapy of some cancers.

Over the yrs my tomach has strted to rejct the med n it hurts alot, but i sill try to take it as and wen i can. Although it is a manageable condition like diamond said it is made worse by stress and sometimes infections

Re: Psoriasis treatment

I suffered from it in my early teens (not that severely and only on my scalp), for me it definitely was linked to stress I was going thru with my mum.. when all that died down it improved a lot, to the point now where it seems to have more or less 'disappeared.'

Re: Psoriasis treatment

Is Stelara still used to treat psoriasis? I heard it was a really good drug but came with a lot of side effects...

Same here. I suffered from a mild form on my scalp when I hit 13 and for me it was definitely linked to stress because it would always worsen when I had exams. Alhamdulillah it's cleared but I still get some symptoms when I'm undergoing extreme stress.

Re: Psoriasis treatment

My hubby had the sam eissue, and yex stress does flare it up, not sure what to do, doctors gave him few ointments but they didn't help much, plus they had setriods whic h I wanted him to stay away from. he had it on the elbows, a patch on the back and on the legs. The elbows and back cleared up itself with less stress and proper care. We always have good lubricants like cetaphil or other no-irritating moturizers on hand but his legs have got worse, he doens't wear short anymore :(

Anyways please share any good natural totka, I am trying to find a good auyedic treament here in India. My sis suggested a natural/organic ointment that she used for her son, I only got 5-6 for him when I went back to CA this time and it worked really well, he ran out of that now so hoping to get some more, I will share the name once I am less lazy to get up to go and see the name :) but I thinjk my hubby has to use that ointment for long time to see permanant reults.

Re: Psoriasis treatment

The ointment I was talking about in my last post id called florasone, it is 100% natural. If you want to use it ask your doctor and use it even though it is off the shelf medicine.

Re: Psoriasis treatment

informative thread

the med u suggested is actually used for eczema and no psoriasis :hmmm:

Re: Psoriasis treatment

my husband and mom have prosiatic patches too. mom uses calcipotrol ointment topically and it works well for her so far. hubby is just relying on vaseline+steroid mixture as it is in initial stages so far

Re: Psoriasis treatment

CETAPHIL should definitely be THE moisturizer for Psoriasis patients. I had this in my early teens as well, and it was spread in different areas of my body in mini patches.

But the one thing that worked for me was TANNING! believe it or NOT..that was the biggest miracle of my life. My dermatologist suggested i needed direct form of sunlight in the effected areas. As i do hijab, i could not go according to her suggestion of going to the beach in a 2 piece bikini :woho:

so, as her alternative suggestion, i signed up for a 3 month contract at a tanning salon and believe it or not, by the grace of God it was WIPED OUT like i never had it, alhumdulilah! And til this day has not returned. Not to mention, i was on steroids for a very long time, and none of them worked the way the tanning bed did.

Re: Psoriasis treatment

^ Wow arazvi, am sure that works as I've also read that sunlight defo does help..

That's amazing...it's a shame it wouldn't work on the scalp

Re: Psoriasis treatment

believe it or not, it helps the scalp also!! I had it in my scalp also, along with legs and fingers, and it worked on all of them. tanning really is a good alternative
