Re: PSL points table

Lahore's bowling sucks
Islamabad's batting sucks

Re: PSL points table

Karachi's batting = Bopara

Re: PSL points table

I dont see any surprise in the results, except Islamabad. I thought they are better than what we are seeing at points table.
Now Karachi is the weakest link and I'm sure will be the team not making playoffs. Instead Qalandars will be thru since they only have to win one game out of two.
I think Quetta Gladiators should be able to win the final.

Re: PSL points table

Look at run rate of Peshawar and Karachi...

Re: PSL points table

I think the standings do justice to the respective teams

Quetta and Peshawar have good all round strength, hence are ahead of everyone in the points table.

Islamabad is mediocre (batting approach not surprisingly is overcautious, bowling is ok).

Karachi (bowling is good, batting = Bopara) and Lahore (good batting but pathetic bowling) are the two weakest teams imo

Re: PSL points table

Present situation is that Quetta and Peshawar have already qualified. Next two teams to qualify would be decided tomorrow, as follow:

First match: Karachi plays Peshawar. If Karachi beats Peshawar than Karachi qualify.

Second match: If Lahore loses to Islamabad than Islamabad would qualify with Karachi (Lahore would be out)
Second match: If Lahore beats Islamabad than run rates of Lahore and Islamabad would decide who qualifies.

But if Karachi loses to Peshawar, than Lahore vs Islamabad would decide fate of Karachi.

For instance ... (considering Karachi loses to Peshawar):

Match 2:
A: If Lahore loses to Islamabad ... than Islamabad and Karachi would qualify.
B: If Lahore wins against Islamabad ... than Lahore and Islamabad would qualify

That means, amongst all 3 teams who have not qualified as yet, chances of Islamabad to qualify is most and chances for Lahore to qualify is least.

Anyhow, seeing the emotion of Lahore team owner and Lahore supporters in 'Quetta vs Lahore' game, I really hope that Lahore qualifies along with Islamabad (as I believe, Islamabad is the strongest team in tournament, as far as players are concerned).

Anyhow, for Islamabad and Lahore to qualify, it can only happen if Peshawar beats Karachi and Lahore beats Islamabad.

Re: PSL points table

Final points table after the end of regular matches: Lahore is eliminated but the actual contenders remained Quetta Glads and Peshawar Zalmis, most likely be finalists:

Re: PSL points table

Correction in above post, Peshawar and Quetta are actually contesting in Playoffs (Qualifying Finals) , which is totally weird. Thats not how playoffs are drawn.
Second game wound be b/w Islamabad united and Karachi Kings. United certainly the favourites.

Re: PSL points table

Why is final on Tuesday? Is it a holiday in Dubai? :konfused:

Re: PSL points table

Mangalvaar shubh din maana jata hai

Re: PSL points table

They should have had the matches in Sharjah..specially the play-offs...it will draw a bigger crowd than Dubai Stadium :/

I am rooting for PZ or QG to be the winner :)

Re: PSL points table

Once playoff starts and initial position of team determined, points became meaningless. Now team would be playing for first four positions. Any team could win the tournament.

First two teams (Q and P) have slight advantage, that is, if they lose first game, they can still reach final and win the tournament. For last two teams (I and K), knockout stage started. One can say that knockout stage would start after first game on Friday, between Q and P.

Present system adopted in ‘PSL’ is better than holding semi-final between 1[SUP]st[/SUP] vs 4[SUP]th[/SUP], and 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] vs 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] … than final between winners, where winner win the tournament and loser get 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] position. While, losers of semi-finals would play for 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] and 4[SUP]th[/SUP] place.

Reason that present system PSL adopted is better because, in such limited over matches, even weakest team could beat strongest (like in pool matches, L won against P as well as Q). In system adopted, top teams (Q and P) would have two chances to qualify (there game on Friday would not make them lose chance to win tournament). First two teams (Q and P), both can get first or second position even if they lose their first game, though would get 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] position if they lose second game (two games continuously). Top two teams could not end up 4[SUP]th[/SUP].

On the other hand, third and fourth team (I and K) can be 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in tournament. If they lose their first game (I vs K), they would be 4th. If they lose second game, they would be 3rd. If they lose 3rd game than they would be 2nd, but if they win all three games than they would be winner of the tournament (1st).

Anyhow, my prediction is same as before, that is:
http://www.paklinks.com/gs/cricketnama/662171-psl-pick-team-2.html#post10367182

1: Quetta
2: Islamabad
3: Peshawar
4: Karachi
5: Lahore

How that would happen?

Friday: Q vs P = Q would win
Sat: I vs K = I would win (loser would be 4[SUP]th[/SUP])
Sun: I vs P = I would win (loser would be 3[SUP]rd[/SUP])
Tue (Final): Q vs I = Q would win (loser would be 2[SUP]nd[/SUP])

End result, as given above and in my post at start of the tournament:
http://www.paklinks.com/gs/cricketnama/662171-psl-pick-team-2.html#post10367182

Though that is my calculated (and wishful) guess. In reality, anything can happen.
