What are your thoughts about the new iterations of these consoles within the same generation? If you already own an earlier iteration, are you interested in buying one of the newer ones? If not, what would make them worth buying for you?
As for me, I’m not currently interested in upgrading. I’m in no rush to get a 4K monitor, and for now that seems to be the main draw with these new, mid-generation iterations. Otherwise, I’m not too keen on the idea of these mid-generation refreshes. They can’t make it something that far above the initial iterations as any games would have to be supported on the original PS4 and XBox One consoles respectively. That has been the whole point with consoles IMO, the standardization, where we don’t need to carry out any configuration on our own. We should be able to take for granted that if we put a game in the console, it should run without any problems.
As an XBox One owner, to make Scorpio interesting enough for me to consider, they would need full backward compatibility at the hardware level with all the XBox 360 software (supporting the game discs with requiring a download) as well as the hardware, i.e. controllers. Backward compatibility with the original XBox would be nice too. They would have to also make the installation process (for the games) much more efficient.
