Along with the PS3 Slim, we pretty much expected this one as well. [Sony

As reported from Joystiq, the price cut will go into effect as of tomorrow, with all retailers expected to update their listings accordingly. As you will be aware, a few retailers already jumped the gun before Sony’s announcement so we wonder if Sony are planning to hand out some punishment to the guilty parties.
Now that the news is out on the PS3 Slim and price cuts, we can now all return to our normal lives, thankfully. Let us know your thoughts on the price cut.

yuppy…100$ is a lot of money these days.. I was about to buy PS3, but the my patience (lazyness) has actually worked… now I can even get a PS3 SLIM…
Yes, it's definitely more attractive at that price point of $299. Other things that I'd like to see them implement before buying a PS3 would be backward compatibility with the PS2. Other than that, there are a few games on it that I would like, such as Valkyria Chronicles and White Knight Chronicles. Otherwise, I prefer the XBox 360's library.
Man, 80 gig PS3 down to 300, I'm looking forward to buy it. But I'm not sure, I just recently got the 360 so ehh, I can wait. As for the slim, it looks pretty weird, no?

I also thought the original one looks better. Being a 360 owner myself, I'm in no rush to get a PS3, but I would like to try out some games that are exclusive to the console. Maybe when it gets another price drop or something.
Well now they've announced that they're no longer trying to make it backward compatible with the superior PS2 library. That gives me even less incentive to get one now.
