can anyone tell me how to setup a proxy server or a simpler way to anonymously surf the web?

Then put the proxy address in your browser settings and Voila!!!

i'm wirelessly connected via my router ... can i just change the settings on one computer? or do i have to go into the wireless router settings

Proxy settings are in the browser. In Firefox, click on Tools/Options/General tab and then the Connection Settings and then choose Manual Proxy Config
In IE click Tools/Internet Options, Connections tab and LAN settings and put in the proxy info there.

As I said, this just has to do with your specific browser. Nothing to do with the router. Try pinging the proxy server ur trying to use. It may not be active anymore. As with p2p sites these anon proxies disappear very fast.

For anonymous surfing download MultiProxy from www.multiproxy.org (its freeware and very handy)
to get proxy lists click here
you dont need to configure the router. just configure your browser to connect to Internet via proxy server (MultiProxy) at address 127.0.0.1 (localhost) and port 8088
or you can also use following websites:
