Prove how sensible you are!

Lately, I’ve been getting a text message from many of my friends, friends who are all university students.. The message goes something like this..

“earn notes. com
Forward this message to atleast 9 people and win Rs. 72. 85 as credit. This is real. Forward it and check your balance after 2 minutes.”

I can’t believe myself how SO mature students can believe such a moronic SMS.. I asked a few of my friends the reason for forwarding such a message. They told me… “Yaaar, SMS package on hai, free SMS hain, isliye kerdiya.. kia jarha hai”

Kia jarha hai?!?! ARE YOU NUTS??? Did you even try checking if this site even exists or not? Nobody is stupid enough to make a website, advertise it through an SMS and then send credit to people who forward it. DUH!!

And do you even realize what would have happened if you really got the credit??? Ever wondered?? Your sim is registered by your name and your address. If the website owner sends you the money, this means he/she is getting access to all your basic personal information. Isn’t that ironically sweet?

In an era where we are experiencing a great deal of terrorism, do you have any idea what giving your personal information to unknown people means?

Just in a matter of seconds, I got another message.. which goes something like this:

“DO NOT visit earn notes. com. It has a software which will hack your computer and might ignite a bomb somewhere as well. Please spread. Quick!”

I was awed, seriously! Can Pakistani people be any more stupid than that???

Everyone has access to internet these days. There’s absolutely no harm in actually confirming these things before passing such sms on. If you’re afraid to visit to site, google the url.. You will get to know if the site exists or not. I did that. There’s no such website… When there’s no such website at all, how can it have a software? :S

If people are still getting such messages, please ignore them. Also, humbly ask the sender to gain some senses and to only pass real information and not bogus stuff.

Pakistan is going through a great mess at the moment. Please, let’s not waste our time on such stupid things.

And PLEASE, FOR GOD’S SAKE… Don’t prove the Pakistani nation to be idiots! We are a sensible nation and we will prove it.

Your education is going nowhere if you cannot make use of it.

Moreover, it is a characteristic of a Muslim that he/she never passes information before confirming it.

This reminds me of those emails people would keep forwarding. Some promised financial rewards to those who forwarded them. Then were also the ones that claimed that someone had an accident of some sort, but didn't have the financial means to get the treatment. So for each forwarded mail, red cross (or whatever organization) would donate some amount of money. Then again there were the ones claiming that if you didn't forward the emails, then you would no longer be able to use hotmail/yahoo for free anymore. I saw so many people get fooled by this type of thing.
