I have seen that on Gupistan and particularly in the world forum there is a lot of animosity towards U.S. I myself being a U.S citizen at times have criticized the policies of U.S gov’t. However today I witnessed something that touched me like I have never been touched before, it made me proud to be an American, re-inforced that America indeed is a great Nation and New Yorkers in general are nice, kind and caring people. It was very nice to feel that pride once again. I felt re-invigorated. God Bless America and I love NY.
My son’s pre-school had a holiday-sing for parents today. I don’t mean to indulge in race but the school district is mostly white,a few hispanics, and 1 American of Pakistani descent(my son). Well in the holiday sing there was this one song where kids wished each other and to parents merry christmas, happy kwanza, happy hanukah, feliz navidad and they didn’t stop they went on and included happy ramadan, in the song as well. The school or teachers were sensitve enough to add that, I think that this was a very nice gesture that even though ramadan was over about a month ago they didn’t want any kid to feel they were left behind and not knowing that my kid celebrates christmas added happy ramadan.
So here you had an ordinary christmas carol turned into an international holiday greeting song.
It’s gestures like these and small things that touches people and try to bridge the gap between muslims and the rest of humanity caused by tragic events of 9/11 that were carried by a few rogue muslims.
Hats off!!! to my school district.
It's really good that your son's school have a sound policy on inclusion. I'v witnessed that many a time in most of the English schools iv taught at, London aswell as Newcastle. In one particular school in London, the children are allowed to answer the register in any language they wish. The teacher herself is not bilingual but her EAL children and children with different nationalities teach her different languages. The whole school have a holiday when it was Eid, Hanukka, Navrati, Diwali as well as Christmas.
^ reminded of something back in primary, the teacher calld the register, an asian kids name was called, and he unintentionally prolonged the 'yes sir' in to 'ya-aas sir', which sounded abit like 'yer arse sir'.
Needless to say, the teacher got offended and asked him to clarify what he said, and the boy says, 'thats how you say yes in my language sir'. the teacher ofcourse didnt believe him and had to confirm it with some other asian kid, but in the end he let it go. he got lucky, cuz that was the headteacher taking cover.
Here's a cookie, go enjoy it. Everybody here already knows the virtues of America, it's the policy stupid.

Just imagine a small act of kindness and goodwill towards your own flesh and blood has brought such a change in you (“I have been touched as I have never been touched before”) Then you can totally sympathize with the anger and frustration of people who bury the remains of their children that have been murdered by the bullets/bombs of United States marines.
Mal1K Saaab: Janab, Eh Amrikka arAm Naal Betha Si, Then ArbaN neh Pungha liTA Amreeka nal, teh Hun Ay-e hee HoSi, Hosala Rakho.
In other words U.S was fine till Muslim Brotherhood (EIJ and Al-Qaeeda)struck, now that U.S has unleashed it’s fury people get irritated. So yeah I feel bad when an errant bomb kills innocent people or when a pissed off marine shoots an unarmed insurgent (that has already surrendered). However an Iraqi having consensual sex or iraqi insurgents killing innocent people doesn’t win my sympathy.
Anyway Lets see if our muslims brothers sing merry chritsmas to their xtian neighbors or do a good deed towards minorities. Till then keep up your lousy sarcasm, I do enjoy it.
eh lousy sarcasm nahin, aye haqeeqat aye. Tere amreeka di bund which bara wada qeera hai, aye din nawiyan polician qad da hai, taye bay gunaah, musalmaan palestine ich maare jaande nain. Tainu te mainu bara saaf saaf pata hai, ke yahudian de sir te kidda hath aye. Is hath nu hi khatam kardo gal hi muk jani aye.
Ta qayamat usi qaum ne naam karna jinna ne Allah di raah which apra sub kuch qurbaan kardeyhna aye
You know what i am saying some kid sings a song my dayz and people get all soppy and say ain’t amerikka great how shallow can you get!
Amerikkka maybe great for some people but for rest of the world it is the haven for terrorists and cold blooded sicko killers called the US armed forces and dollar hungry greedy US government!
Sing how many songs you want it don’t stop the people being exploited and their lands occupied or the blood being spilled sing that in your songs for some reality!
