Protesting new home appraisal value

Anyone done that?

What type of documentation have you used?

I am planning on protesting my new home appraisal based on “appraised value being more than market value”. Since I just bought the house last year, I have been told to just send the closing statement and a copy of the “fee appraisal” that was done at the time of closing as supporting documents. I am not sure if this is sufficient though because the fee appraisal does not show value less than the appraised value by tax authority.

Re: Protesting new home appraisal value

wouldn't a higher appraised value help you in getting a loan against the built equity in the house?

Re: Protesting new home appraisal value

^ no. the appraised value from the tax authority only increases your yearly property tax. For refi, or for home equity loans you need a new fee appraisal.
