KARACHI: President of the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) Rasheed A. Razvi has appealed to lawyers for maximum participation in protest rallies and demonstrations.** “Don’t push me to issue show-cause notices and revoke membership,”** he said, urging the lawyers unite. He said this while presiding over a general body meeting on Thursday. It was decided that a general body meeting would be held December 13, after which a rally from the SHC to the Karachi Press Club (KPC) would be held against the ban on the news channels.
The Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) endorsed the decision of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) during the meeting and also decided to completely boycott courts on December 13. Razvi urged the lawyers to remain united in the movement for the restoration of the judiciary and democracy. Furthermore, there was also a token one-hour strike held to mark solidarity with the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and Karachi Bar Association (KBA) members completely boycotted the lower courts. Only a handful of lawyers appeared before the courts.

If lawyers don't want to protest, then that's their free right. Don't threaten them by revoking their membership. I am surprised at you yet again, this time for defending bully boy tactics and intimidation by bar associations. Hypocrisy 100%.

Or maybe Ch.Iftikhar is seeking royal exile like Nawaz Sharif? More hyprocrisy from Ch.Iftikhar. When Nawaz Sharif was deported, he protested that Saudi's should keep their noses out of Pakistan's business, but now look who is talking to them!

Intimidation yes, but I don't see any hypocrisy in that. And Mushrraf has, not only been intimidating, but attacking civil society, and you have been defending him. Do you see hypocrisy in that? :D

How long are people going to be dumb? The CJ is no better thank ex-coas and imo a lot worse because he did everything to save his behind from prosecution in his nepotism. The lawyers union did intially seem to have some spirit but now this news makes it clear that. they also simply listen to their own dictator.

What way is that hypocrisy? Lawyers stand is very clear. They want free judiciary and rule of law. Its not too much to ask I hope.
So lets sum it up
Lawyers are standing up for free judiciary and free speech and at the same time they will cancel the membership of any lawyer who don't agree to their viewpoint? and try to exercise the right of free will and free seech? pretty cool eeh?

If Musharraf supposedly intimidates people then we hear no end to the criticism from supporters of "democracy and free speech" etc.
But if the bar associations start intimdating lawyers, then that is being justified by the same people.

Thats how it should be... The Lawyers should do whatever they can to purge their movement of any Lotas and Chamchas...
When you have ruthless dictator as your oppnent, you have to make sure there is no dessension in your ranks, or you end up like the rest of the opposition.
