Protein Shakes

Anyone use them?
To what end?
How successful were you?

Re: Protein Shakes

my nephew goes to gym almost everyday and afterwards he drinks one tall glass of protein drink. :)

Re: Protein Shakes

I use Jarrow Whey protein shake (french vanilla), and I love it. It is pure whey protein, mixes really well, and is a great protein supplement to my diet. I initially bought it for my after workout shake, but now I drink it on a regular basis. In fact, I found it to be so good, I stopped giving my toddler Pediasure (if I can't pronounce the ingredients, they can't be all natural), and instead started mixing in jarrow's whey into his milk, along with a little cocoa powder. He loves the stuff.

Re: Protein Shakes

Chocolate is the one i like :D

I used it for gym and drinking it makes me eat a lot less, its very filling.

Re: Protein Shakes

@Shak - he likes chocolate, and I like french vanilla - so I just add cocoa to his shake :D

You're right, it is very filling. Good stuff!

Re: Protein Shakes

Never had it. But now since i've resumed my workout schedule thinking to start taking it.

Question: Does anyone think here we can replace it with regular meal? I think regular stuff or junk is wut really killing me.

Re: Protein Shakes

If your workout is more and desi food does not provide enough protein then go for it.
I used protein in past but reach to conclusion to eat chicken, fish more. I am no longer taking it.

Re: Protein Shakes

What do you guys blend with the protein powder? Water?

Re: Protein Shakes

You can blend it with either water or milk its personal choice.

i am taking hard gainer whey protein with milk after my workout and it is good so far.

Re: Protein Shakes

yes protien shakes a meal...depends on their full calories and carb protien macro...

it can be a side meal too...again depending on calories...

my whey protien as a side meal, is 200 calories

but if i want it as a main meal it can be as heavy as 500 calories

Re: Protein Shakes

add almond milk to get rid of watery taste..and less calories then normal milk

Re: Protein Shakes

^ best way to reduce water is to add less water - old jungle saying.

Re: Protein Shakes

*rolleyes

Re: Protein Shakes

Maybe I'll give it a try.
Anyone have any negative views or warnings?

Re: Protein Shakes

I do. I used visalis shakes back in the day. Gave me the worst headaches ever! Went to the doctor and found out that whey protein doesnt work for everyone.....now I just try to get my protein from meat.

Re: Protein Shakes

I think rather than having protein shakes you should be consuming foods with high protein such as tuna, skilm milk, salmon and eggs. Protein powders are ok providing that they have a low sugar content. Maybe you could have the protein shake every second day and have food that is high in protein every other day. You should also cut down on your carbohydrate intake such as white bread etc...
