As we aware, there are many chapters in Holy Qur’an, if we read or hear, the ‘Prostration’ become ‘mandatory’ on us. You are requested to please share more information related tho this. ![]()

Re: Prostration During Recital of Quran
Walaikum salam,
Would also like more information on that. On the verses that mention to Prostrate, Isn't offering nawafil to follow up with the verse, fulfilling? (as long as it's not during the impermissible prayer times). Haven't prostrated just to prostrate. May Allah (swt) forgive me, and guide us all.
Re: Prostration During Recital of Quran
Peace teggy,
I read a hadith, in book ‘Prostration During Recital of Quran’ of Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. **173
**
Narrated 'Abdullah bin Masud : The Prophet
recited Suratan-Najm (103) at Mecca and prostrated while reciting it and those who were with Him did the same except an old man who took a handful of small stones or earth and lifted it to his forehead and said, “This is sufficient for me.” Later on, I saw him killed as a non-believer.
I remember when we offering ‘traveeh’ during the month of ‘Ramadhan’, our Imam read a Surah where ‘Prostrate’ is recommended, so he (the Imam) said 'Allah O Akbar! and directly went to ‘Sajood’, and then stood and completed the Surah. We all were doing the same as he did.
Don’t know about offering ‘nafal’ is reqired to fulfill or not.
Re: Prostration During Recital of Quran
Wow. Thanks for sharing that hadith. I mean, sometimes you recite Quran on the bus, or in the train, while driving, or while doing something. What if you aren't able to prostrate right then? That was my intention behind what I mentioned up there.
Re: Prostration During Recital of Quran
^Well..teggy in that case..make sujood..when you can.
Re: Prostration During Recital of Quran
Think it's sunnah, not mandatory?
[QUOTE]
What is the ruling on Sujud-ul-Tilawah (Prostration of Recitation)? Should Taslim (salutation of peace ending the Prayer) be made when Sujud-ul-Tilawah is performed during recitation of the Qur'an outside Salah (Prayer)? What is the Dua' (supplication) that should be said in Sujud-ul-Tilawah? If someone is offering Salah and one of Ayat-ul-Sujud (Qur'anic verses of Prostration) is recited at the end of the Surah (Qur'anic chapter), should they start to recite the next Surah after rising up from Sujud (prostration) or just proceed directly to Ruku (bowing)?
A: Sujud-ul-Tilawah is an act of Sunnah. There is no Nas (Islamic text from the Qur’an or the Sunnah) to support that Taslim should be made after performing it; therefore, no Taslim should follow Sujud. It is not obligatory for someone who offers Salah and performs Sujud-ul-Tilawah at the end of Surahs such as Al-Araf, Al-Najm, and Al-Alaq, to recite more Qur'an after rising from Sujud-ul-Tilawah and before bending for Ruku; but there is nothing wrong if they do. The Dua' that should be said is the same as that said in Sujud during Salah.
May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

Peace All,
Wow. Thanks for sharing that hadith. I mean, sometimes you recite Quran on the bus, or in the train, while driving, or while doing something. What if you aren't able to prostrate right then? That was my intention behind what I mentioned up there.
Teggy bhai, I think it is not mandatory to do right at the spot when we hear such verse, but we can do it later on and we should do it b'coz I heard it is mandatory.

Scherbatsky, I think it is Sunnah+mandatory. Interestingly, in such prostration, there is no need to be in a state of ablution, in case if we are not and that can be offered.
