Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

Everybody should be accountable to the law of the land rich or poor, there is no debate at all.

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

Very well said :k:

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

You shouldnt enforce "tougher" laws in regards to prostitution until you introduce a different occupation for these women to pursue.

For example, Shahi Mohalla and Heera Mandi have produced some of Pakistan's finest artisans including Noor Jehan and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Meera. Film Star's, painters, singers, and even politicians and university professors come from these areas.

The problem is the static way of life these people have developed. In that they cant get out of this line of work. This is a business that has been continuing since the time of the Mauryan Empire to the Mughal Empire. The police and government are sending them mixed messages by passing "reform" legislation while at the same time sleeping with these women. The women are prey for predators.

And the Pakistani society is too stupid to figure it out anyways, so instead of helping these women, they stigmatise them further.

Before speaking, everyone must read the following two books to even consider themselves adept in discussing this topic:

Taboo: the Secret Culture of a Red Light Area by Fouzia Saeed
The Dancing Girls of Lahore by Louis Brown

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

Meera!!! Come on dude! She does not even know how to act properly and you are calling her an artisan.

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

I don't think poverty and desperation are the sole causes of prostitution. They may be a major factor but not the only. It is called the oldest trade and it is everywhere. I failed to get shocked by hearing such news anymore. Even Saudi Arabia has brothels.

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

This is all just very disturbing. :(

and this too...
with the majority of the clientele ironically comprised of politicians, bureaucrats, police officials and army personnel; in short, the very people who are supposed to legislate and implement laws against the sex trade.

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

Pathetic.

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

hrshokh, thanks for posting the link. Very intersting show...really moving and disturbing. All the woman showed a strong faith in god...which to me is surprising. I once saw Chandni Bar and it really disturbed me..so much so i coudln't stop thinking about it for days after. Though the movie was fiction i knew there were tons of women in the same situation and cycle. It's very sad.

One other thing, i heard that more and more prositution rings are moving into smaller cities and are more common in the northern areas...where before they may be a village/area where it was known prostitutes are..now they were spreading. These rings had both MALE and FEMALE prostitutes.

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

Anyone who thinks Pakistan or any other Muslim country is some sort of safe haven is an idiot.

Is it a coincidence that Malaysia, Thailand, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan and UAE and Europe are involved in modern day slavery: Sex Slavery?

Is it a coincidence that Pakistan has more drug addicts than Iran?

Dont presume the innocence of the "Islamic" Republic of Pakistan. Maybe they should change their name to the Feudalistic Military State of Pakistan, it describes them more aptly.

Amusingly, im sure youve all heard this, Google Trends lists Pakistan as number one when it comes searching for sex. I realize that Pakistan is not a nation with computers, meaning it doesnt represent the whole population, however what this means is those that do have computers are searching for sex.

Go to Google Trends
Search: "sex"
Laugh
You can adjust the years as you like. :)

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan
In the West it's like 95% whereas in Pakistan it's like 5% of the population.
Well... I certainly don't know very many people who have been with a prostitute... I think this 95% figure you pulled out of your butt is a little off...

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

LMAO :D

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

Sex slavery happens in every country. Soho in London is jam packed with prostitutes from Eastern Europe, gangsters/pimps have flourishing trade in this country and the women who work for them were kidnapped/brought to this country with the promise of work.

The reason Pakis come top for sex search is bewcause they don't know spicier terms used by the rest of the world.

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

You are most welcome Amelie :)

On the other hand it's not just limited to smaller cities. In bigger cities for example, they have moved into posh areas like defence in Lahore.

Yeah, male prostitution has gained quite a popularity, specially among gays. For example, small teen age boys carrying oil bottles for massage on the road sides / chowks are picked up by other men in cars.

Pakistani mentality is such that if they see 'burai' they either participate in it or they just shut their eyes, more so their mouth. Like you could be doubted to have such info.

Till the time we don't accept reality we can just forget about doing something to prevent it. It's a psychological fact !

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

Pointing finger at other societies in defence, won't stop it. The concern here is not really what other nations do, they are way out of your league.

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

Sex Slavery in London is a world apart from sex slavery in Lahore.

And who participates in this trade? Men of political parties who defy government. Pakistan has a plethora of parties and you bet your top dollar a nice chunk of those men visit these brothels for relaxation, business, pleasure.

But as the previous person mentioned, Pakistani society is a heavily conditioned Patriarchy.

Men set the rules, women obey them. Women are whores because men define them to be, even though they are the ones paying to have sex with them. Uniquely enough, the kids produced through this one night union is a ******* as his politician/business-elite/Army General father is a "bara admi".

Sorry, id rather have naked European girls dancing around out of free will then have poorer deprived women being oppressed by those who claim to guide society to justice.

Re: Prostitution in Pakistan

you have to look at other society's faults too, to "feel good" ... know 'm sayin?
