Prophets in dreams

What are the different views about having what you believe to be a prophet or messenger in a dream? Is it possible?

Someone was telling me that those that call themselves Wahabi do not believe that prophets can appear in dreams.

Someone also told me that those that call themselves Salafi believe it is possible, but one cant really tell for sure.

hmmm hmmm.. im a wahabi... (i was told)..

neways i dont know... a guy here in OZ.. whose been studying arabic has been havnig strange dreams for quite some time.. with an old man with a beard and cloak coming to him.. when he asked his teacher about his draems.. the teacher responded... 'u r being shown the way.. to go to Islam'..

this guy is a caucasian.. not muslim ... but he seems to be seeing the Prophet in his dreams...

What if you are the prophet in the dream? What about that?

^ hehe... first we are trying to establish whether you can really have the Prophet in ur dreamz... :)

i used to pray in my dreams... say duas that i didnt even know... freaky

sadzzz, hmm, as far as i know of what a wahabi is , they tend to be labelled as strict followers of hadith, which you stated you only follow the Qur'an, no more no less, so I think the person who told you that was probably incorrect in his/her statement. Or maybe I am wrong.

I've heard several muslims state that they have seen prophets in their dreams, and also some christians.

However I just wanted to know what different guppies and muslims say about this.

So sadzzz, you are unsure I take it?

Matsui, I am asking one question and here you are asking another. Tsk tsk, open your own thread. uffh. hehe. grin

Munni... well my khandaan is known to belong to the wahibi sect... but ive never grown up to follow anything but whats written in the Quran.. if in the Quran it says the Prophet cannot come in ur dreams.. then its kewl..

im unsure bout a lotta things.... :)

my question is don't take me wrong ppl but when ppl claim that they have had the ziyarat of prophet mohammed (s.a.w) or other prophets etc in their dreams what i don't understand is if we for one don't know exactly wat some prophets look like then how can we claim to see them.

do ppl just do this to attract attention do u think or wat.

let us not try to judge what we have no knowledge of....

I have read Sahih Bukhari ahadith about seeing a Prophet (saw) in dream. I will try to look for it. By the way so called Wahabis do not think what you are saying.

ever wonder why peole of one religion do not see a Prophet of another religion in their dreams?

PakistaniAbroad, it has happened, just as sadzzz stated above, about her non muslim friend who claims to see prophet muhammad(saw) in his dream.

PA, Actually they have! I personally know people who not only claim it to be the case but also the reason they converted.

he's been seeing an ol' man in a cloak! Not having a single picture of Prophet Muhammad at our disposal, how can we know it's a Prophet he's seeing?

OK, I know several people who have seen prophets in their dreams. My hafiz has seen hazrat Mohammed, and he said taht although he could not remember his name he knew in his heart who it was. My mum has had similar dreams, so I suppose they do happen

Sorry my mum was so busy!!

Yep, a common viewpoint that you have stated. How is one sure?

and at this point... us humans should stop arguing... no one can be 100% sure about nething...

i say lets just work on our own faith and Iman.. instead of questioning anothers :)

hey PA, im not sure who the person was in the guys dream.. his teacher seems to think it was Prophet Mohammad... i will try to get more details... but no matter what we say... its just our own interpretation...

No other viewpoints? sigh
