We are having an event on Prophet Muhammed(pbuh) this week and I need to make some handouts. Its targeted towards non-muslims to teach them about him and that he wasn’t violent the way some people portray him.
If you were non-muslim, what would you want to know about him?
Regardless of even I am being muslim or non-muslim, given the context of your query, the emphasis should be on Prophet’s:saw: life in Makkah. The thirteen years of Patience that he endured along with believers with him.
Well they are gonna get a lecture on it. I am thinking more like a summary of his life and offcourse some of the hadiths about patience, peace and tolerence.
Before saying anything further, I would just clear one thing. Someone did not liked when I had said that I took it as an insult when someone assumes me as non-muslim while knowing that I am a muslim. Let me just explain it more as I said the same to that person:
To let someone assume first to be a non-muslim and then ask such question is incorrect. The better way to approah this question was what would one may expect a non-muslim to be unaware of Prophet:saw: … **You keep your faith with you and then approach non-muslim… you do not think like non-muslims first… Prophet:saw: never did… he first said Shahadah. **
So, you ask yourself this question… Why should I believe in Muhammad:saw: … Once you get that answer, that’s what you should just convey to non-muslims… Not that let’s just think like a non-muslim… A very wrong approach of Dawaah IMHO.
Now having said that, I’d like to provide one link that may help a little.

I think you need to make clear that he was neither a warmonger as is commonly portrayed in western/nonmuslim media nor did he believe in non-violence like Gandhi. He was like many Prophets before him was sent to establish JUSTICE amongst his people and to bring them to the faith of Abraham(pbuh) he tried to do it as much as possible by avoiding warfare and by negotiating treaties and alliances( Traety of Medina and Huddaibiyah, you can even quote the clauses that give freedom of worship to jews, christians etc) but sometimes given the violent nature of opposition against him it was neccessary to take uparms against his enemies. But also mention the way warfare was conducted by him in contrast with his enemies( After Badr Pagan Pows are released, but even then Pagan women mutilate muslim corpses in Uhad)

you will be asked about Banu quraizah,....me think
prepare a strong case, overwhelming historical evidence explains clearly the actions of the Prophet(pbuh) were according to jewish law
His follwing in those days was not even in dozen so do u really think he could have afforded the war.. in fact he kept preaching his faith and that mean ridiculign pagan’s way of preaching and still he remaiend alive in those days when war and killing was not such a tabboo thing so if anything this incident really underlines the tolerance of pagans …
I have another question how can a person who supervised the beheading of 900 jews can be termed peacefull.. few of the people I have interacted with has given alibi that it was their own leader who delivered death penalty not prophet evenif one buys that doesn’t it look odd that a prophet lets this kind of mass butchering happen without intervening…even in this day and age a god-fearing pios person intervenes if he sees someone being victimized why didn’t prophet stop this mass butchery??
PS: IF it’s too much for this board I apologize and take my question back
Thats your opinion and I respect that. I have my own ways of doing dawah and Allah knows my intentions, I WASN’T calling anyone non-muslim. I feel that you have to know how the other party thinks/feels to educated them.
Secondly, I called people retarded cuz I think I asked a simple question and everyone is going on about how Allah na kare this and Allah na kare that. Islamically there is NOTHING wrong with my question or me trying to think like a non-muslim to organize information in a fashion that is understandable for non-muslims. You have to know your audience to make your lecture/lit more effective.
I want this event to get one message across, the cartoons about Prophet Muhammed(pbuh) were wrong.

I am not really worried about questions that are gonna come at us cuz there will be like 3-4 people at the booth at all times and there will be scholars there as well who are going to give a presentation.
But thank you, i will read up on it for my info though.
tell them how the kaafirs used to bury infant girls alive..He (pbuh&up) stopped them from doing that or stopped that practice..how he treated his wives..u can list some of his other qualities also..like His honesty that even his enemies trusted Him etc
I respect your intentions too but the statement above can make many people here up on there knees as well. Dawaah is not something that is done just like that. It is a process that requires learning. You can read many things that how great scholars have infered the ways of Daawah from the Seerah of Rasoolulah:saw: and then how Sahaba themselves did it.
As for the use of word “retard” goes, as a preacher of Islam, and as per guidelines set by Islam for a Preacher, you should not be calling names to anyone. In fact, no muslim is supposed to do that.
be prepared to answer questions about the Prophet's marriage to a 'nine year old girl' aka Aisha(ra). Non-Muslims are obsessed about it! Also the 'why did Muhammed marry more than 4 women if Islam only allows 4?' is a frequent question.
I never said i was a preacher, I am just trying to help people make thsi event successful and that is all i expect from you guys.
CA thanx, we already realized that. Like i said the scholar who will be speaking is mashallah very knowledgeable, so i am sure he wont have any trouble answering any questions
