That would suggest they both were quite young but according to popular understanding Mohammed was in his forties and Aisha was only nine. That isn’t quite the same thing as a 15 year old boy getting married to a 14 year old girl.

and marrying a nine year old would still be an oddity in a society where women are married in their early teens. using the excuse of women getting married at a young age is not a supportive argument in this case.
