Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him)

I see practicing as well as non practicing muslims talk passionately about the Prophet Mohammad :saw2:. It bothers me that I don’t have that passion. I’m a practicing Muslim and I try to follow a few sunnah’s too. I love the prophet and I agree with everything they say about the Prophet Mohammad’s :saw2: status but I don’t have the same passion. Is it because I don’t have enough knowledge about the seerah? How do I develop that passion? I’d started listening to the seerah. I finished the makkah period and entered the madani period of the seerah and stopped shortly after that. I’ll restart the seerah lectures soon InshaAllah. Will that suffice?

You know actions speak louder than words. Those who talk passionately doesn't mean they are incorporating the lessons from seerah as well. May be they are way off. So dont feel bad. As long as you are trying to stick with leading your life in a similar way, thats the bottom line.
But its a different debate that can we actually lead the similar life? May be not as times are changed. But we can still lead our life on the base of same principles that the Prophet lead.

I am sure there are many simple Sunnah actions that you already follow such as reciting Bismillah before you eat/drink, performing the sunnah prayers, cleanliness/hygiene, etc. You can learn the duas that he SAWS used to recite (before dressing, when entering the bathroom, when leaving the house, etc ) and if you already recite them as well as the dhikr that he SAWS has recommended, then I think you're in a good place.

I think that the most difficult aspect of the Prophet SAW's life for us to emulate is his character. It's his character that attracted people to him even before he began his mission. And it's the same character that won over the enemies and led to the conversion of many people who were firm adherents of their former faith. I don't know whether there is any sin upon us for not following the sunnah when it comes to mundane rituals. But I do know that it's a sin to hurt someone and I've heard that we won't be forgiven by Allah until we've sought that person's forgiveness, first. And if you reflect over this point, character would take priority....no? It's been advised that if one wishes to see the Prophet SAWS in their dream, they should mind their tongue and be careful not to offend others.

The Yasir Qadhi seerah episodes that you are planning to restart don't mention the sunnah rituals as much as it gives examples of the Prophet SAWS's character. You find examples of how he SAWS even honored the trust of the enemies, how he was kind to his companions, how he responded to his opponents, how he avoided suspicion and gave people the benefits of the doubt, etc etc. And if you think about it, it's these details that move your heart when you're listening to the seerah. So maybe, as an effort to internalize the seerah, you can note the examples of good character that you learn about in each episode and reflect over the ways you can implement those traits in your own life and interactions with others. You make an effort and you also make dua to Allah to make it easier for you.

^All that I've said above is just a humble suggestion and is by no means an indication that I'm "perfect" or that I follow every sunnat or that I'm super religious......a charge that has been leveled at me often enough on the forum. The dilemma with long posts is that they can come across as holier-than-thou even when that is not the intent or sentiment behind them. It's just my 2 cents.

One of the things that I find most ironic is that ulemas would be talking about the Prophet's tolerant nature be it for people of taif, mecca or individuals who used to badmouth him yet they don't find any problem supporting blasphemy laws in Pakistan.

How does one reconcile both strands of thoughts especially if you are applying the blasphemy law against non-muslims who are under no obligation to say nice things about Islam and/or its prophet.

Its prolly because you live in a Wahabi country. Please come to Pakistan during the month of Rabbi ul Awwal and you will feel this passion oozing out everywhere.

OK that was a sarcastic remark, but there is a some truth to it.

Try reciting the dua after azaan i had mentioned in another thread, that will earn guarantee you the intercession from Prophet :saw2: (Hadith). Also send plenty of darood upon the Prophet :saw2: on Fridays and all other days. He will know your name on the day of Resurrection when he greets you near the cistern of Kauthar and after drinking from it you will never go thirsty again.

I don’t know which dua you are referring to. I read this after Azan :

I recite durood in abundance too. I still don’t have that passion. I feel like I must be doing something wrong :hinna:

My big thread on Dhikr: https://gupshup.org/forum/society/re…46-dhikr/page2

Post 20.

Please note that last part of the dua that you mentioned “innka la tukhlif ul meeaad” (You never fail in Your promise) is not proven from hadith

And Allah knows best.

Isn’t this a Prophet Muhammad thread and this law specifically targets this?

I don’t see a need for another thread when this thread is about following his sunnah.

The Prophet gave a message of love and peace, even if you just be nice to people, mean them no harm, and help them whenever you can then you will be following the Sunnah

Thing is this listening one time is not enough, i think that?s my opinion just keep listening as i know myself how passionate i was while inwas listening seerah and i just truly feel the love of prophet ﷺ , but i think we should get connected with seerah all the time so then we will be passionate and love to do what He ﷺ used to do!

**So How does one develop that passion?

Mohammad :saw2: is the only Prophet who introduced Mankind to our Maker!

before him PBUH people asked what name do we call the Almighty?

and where does the Almighty reside?

so our Prophet :saw2: was the first to tell us via the Holy Quran:**

Surah Muhammad - 47:19

https://www.islamicity.org/global/images/photo/Facebook/facebookSmallIcon__14x15.JPG

47:19 Know, then, [O man,] that there is no deity save God, and [while there is yet time,] ask forgive?ness for thy sins and for [the sins of] all other believing men and women: for God knows all your comings and goings as well as your abiding [at rest].

**You see Musa ES was not told the name nor was Essa ES, they had *****“YHWH” or “Yahweh” or “Jehovah” ***this was not a name but a Title!

**and he PBUH told us Allah SWT is everywhere and yet Allah SWT at the same time is closer to each one of us than our Jugular Vein!

Mohammad :saw2: told us that when we stand in Prayer, we actually are knocking on the Door of Allah Subhanhu Wa Taala!

and He PBUH also told us that when a person knocks on Allah’s Door,

Allah Subanhu Wa Taala always answers!

So here is a Man PBUH amoung other things who brings us so close to our Maker! Subhan Allah!**

and like Sheikh Saadi so eloquently wrote : Balaghal-ula bi-kamaalihi / Kashafad-duja bi-jamaalihi / Hasunat jameeu khisaalihi / Sallu alaihi wa aalihi?

I absolutely get where you're coming from, I would suggest keep doing what you're doing i.e. you 'r're focussing on his (SAW)teachings and you still have ways to go in understanding Him as a person and that is when you develop Ishq or Love for a personality. I would highly suggest doing what you're doing and in addition to that learning His Seerah.
A man who burried 6 out of his 7 kids. His grief when he was burying his son Ibrahim?
His character when he went to convey Allah's message in Taif and Makkah.
His Duas for His Ummah's bakhshish.
His life in Shaib e Abi Talib.
I am absolutely sure that you know these parts on Nabi's Sunnah but it is very important who you listen to. I have been repeating same words again and again throughout my whole life and as far as I remember, I can count the Instances when those words literally meant the World to me or how the took me to an altogether different state of mind.
My point is it is very Important who you listen to or read to on a given topic.
