Today, most people in the West are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ (or celebrating consumerism!). Before we left for Winter Break, I was talking to my son’s 3rd grade teacher about Jesus & Islam, and she was pretty surprised to learn how revered Prophet Isa (pbuh) is in our scritures. I pulled up the following verse from Surah Imran for her:
O Mary God has chosen you and made you pure and has preferred you above the women of creation. O Mary! God gives you good news of a Word from Him. His name will be the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and shall be one of those who are nearest to God. She said My Lord! How can I have a child when no man has touched me? He said Even so. God creates what He wills. When He has decreed something, He says to it only, “Be and it is.” (Qur’an 3:42-45)

I remember my Papa once told me that Bibi Maryam was mentioned more times in the Quran, the the entire New Testament. Interesting! Any thoughts on the subject???
