Prophet Adam (pbuh) and the cave men...

before you ask… no it isn’t the latest production to come out of hollywood !

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/smile.gif

But an intriguing question… We all know that cave men existed and we also know, based on various paintings found within caves, that they also had intelligence (tool users, painters etc..). Although these beings looked very different from the way humans look today, they still possessed some (if limited) intelligence.

So, where does the Prophet Adam (pbuh) fit into all of this ?. If he was considered the ‘first man’ then at what stage was he placed on the earth and that would lead to what was his form ??.

Just curious… any ideas ??

Arch Angel:
There is no proof that these cave men looked different from us. Darwin's theory has no scientific proof. It's all speculation. Man was created by God, and he is in the that same form.

Scientific Proof as reported today:

Yo - only Christians believe that man is in the same form as God. Allah is formless (right?)

Shakir, where’s the scientific proof that man was created by God?

Actually Shakir, based on skeletal remains of these 'cavemen' it is very obvious that they not only looked different from us in terms of bone/skeletal structure but they also were alot hairier (since early man did not go around wearing wind-proof clothing and hooded-tops!)

If you look at anything within the Universe, you will notice that everything goes through a process of 'evolution' or growth. Stars and planets don't just simply appear out of nowhere with a 'bang', they take time to form and evolve over many millions of years.
Comming back down to Earth, every living thing, plants, insects & animals have gone through a process of evolution.

Crocodiles & Alligators have been around since the dinosours without changing their physical form, but even they did not initially start out to look like the way they look today... yes even they evloved from something... whatever that something was !.

If everything else has evolved and developed over time.. why shoud humans be any different ?. And if say for example that human beings (in their current form) just suddenly appeared out of no-where many years ago, then it would be inevitable that we would find skeletal remains of humans dating back millions of years and they would look the same as we do today !. But it is quite the opposite, the further back you go, the greater the difference in physical appearence.

I am not denying that Allah Taala has the ability to create anything he wants simply by saying 'BE' and it is.. But analyizing the history of our Universe and our own planet it is very evident that everything has a natural order to it.. there is nothing 'magical or mystical' about the Universe, everything has order and discipline to it.

Ask yourself the question, If Allah taala wanted to put humans on the earth with no evolutionery history, then why did he go to so much trouble with the rest of the Universe ??.. why go through the BIG bang and the gradual development of the Universe over countless billions of years ?.. why not simply create the whole thing as we see it today ?.

You are thinking way too hard about reconciling Islam and current scientific thoughts on the history of the earth.

Just remember this - Allah could have created the world yesterday, and you would never know - all your memories and surroundings could have been placed there as a setup (ala Total Recall).

Or you could be in the Matrix right now.

Either way, there is no proof that these aren't true.

where's teh proof that man evolved from an ape?..its a theory. There are many contradictions to it.

A belief in God is like a backbone--like i said in another thread, most people cant rely on The Learning Channel to update their beliefs every sunday.

Allah has attributes but we do not know what FORM is he in. He does not resemble any of his creation, he is totally unique.

And GOD created man, and everything that exists on this planet and in this universe.

Guys, you seem to be drifting from the topic, whether or not God created man is not the question... I firmly believe that he did and we'll leave it at that.. The question is, when man first appeared on this Earth, did he resemble humans as we are today ?. If so then you should be able to find skeletal remains of early man(dating back many millions of years)and find them to be the same as our own skeletons today.

Regardless of how you feel about Darwins Theory of Evolution, you have to admit that everything you see around you today does have an evolutionary history. The plants and animals around us today, have not been that way since time began... over the course of many millions of years they evolved from earlier forms of plants/birds/animals etc.. So if every other living thing can evolve from somthing previous... then why can't humans ?..

It is unfortunate that we cannot put a date/time on when exactly Prophet Adam (pbuh) was on this earth. We would then be able to tie that in with every other living thing on this Earth to get a better picture of our history.

I am not an expert in Islamic Studies but I read somewhere in a translation of the Quran that "Gad created the universe in steps"... Could these steps refer to a period of evolution. Nonetheless we do know that some of the earlier prophets lived for 100s, 200s or every 1000s of years. This too could be part of the evolution into modren man as we know him today. Probably the man in the future might be different....
Life and lifestyles are all changing us. Remember the time when our grandparents used to bicycle to work each and every day. You wouldn;t be caught dead bicycling to work on a chinese-made cycle today. This is just an example but I am sure there are a few more cultural changes (some because of technology) between us and our grandparents.
If we have changed phycologically (sorry for the spelling) we must have physically changed over a period of time... and maybe the earlier man and early prophets were cavemen.
