What is proper etiquette? What is a girl supposed to do if no one engages her in conversation? all they do is ask a few questions and then get busy in their own conversations while they occasionally look at you…
Re: proper etiquette in a rishta meeting...
just serve them And go back to your room.:D
Re: proper etiquette in a rishta meeting...
Just sit there aimlessly looking pretty. Smile when someone makes eye contact with you. Or you can just excuse yourself after a while and go to your room/kitchen for a bit. Then come back to do the whole thing all over again. Or be smart and come back when they are just about to leave. So you just say bye and then run inside.
It's such painful baqwaas.
Re: proper etiquette in a rishta meeting…
Deciding factor is how good your chai is and not your communication skills . So just chill . :k:
Re: proper etiquette in a rishta meeting...
If you there is an instant liking - sit and act like you only have eyes for him
If you there is an instant disliking - sit and act like you only have eyes for his dad
Re: proper etiquette in a rishta meeting...
:( what if this meeting took place at a wedding and your families are seated together and you cannot escape.
Re: proper etiquette in a rishta meeting...
^Well then just be ya're self. Don't be too conscious. If they like ya..they will.
Re: proper etiquette in a rishta meeting...
I'd just have my dinner, socialize a bit with other people, keep a distance and try not to talk too much.
Re: proper etiquette in a rishta meeting...
Just sit there looking fit. :D
Re: proper etiquette in a rishta meeting...
Jeez, must be really awkward.
Re: proper etiquette in a rishta meeting...
You roll your eyes, clear your throat, drum you fingernails...and if none if these nonverbal cues grab there attention you shout, "Um HELLO!!! I thought this was all about me!?!?!!!"
J/k :p. You won't be confined to your table the whole time, so as Reha said ...talk to your friends. Be polite and and answer their questions, but then get busy with your own friends/conversations just as the auntis n uncles r doing. You'll appear more relaxed when you're occupied. It makes it easier if you have friends at the event. I don't like such awkward situations...hope things go well for u.
Re: proper etiquette in a rishta meeting...
Lol redvelvet! thanks for the responses everybody, things went well enough and I got the proposal. Its just that throughout the night I just felt maybe I was expected to join in on the conversation, or prompt a conversation with his siblings. But it seemed like all anybody wanted to do was just look at me, and that made me feel shy and ackward. I had no friends at this event because we were invited for the purpose of rishta introduction and I knew nobody else there.
