Promised Land

I in no way whatsoever want my question to be understood from a political viewpoint. This is a strictly religious question and would appricate a sense of maturity from people who wish to respond.

Thank You.

Re: Promised Land

here you go missie..

Re: Promised Land

btw this part is interesting
Most Jews today support the existence of the state of Israel. However, there are a small number of secular Jews who are anti-Zionist. There is also a very small group of right-wing Orthodox Jews who object to the existence of the state of Israel, maintaining that it is a sin for us to create a Jewish state when the messiah has not yet come. However, this viewpoint does not reflect the mainstream opinion of Orthodoxy. Most Orthodox Jews support the existence of the state of Israel as a homeland, even though it is not the theological state of Israel that will be brought about by the messiah.

Re: Promised Land

wow, that was fast...really interesting stuff, straight to the point aswell.

the part that sticks out the most is how some, and i think they mean a minority of orthodox Jews believe that its not the promised land as its sinful to create a Jewish state when the messiah has yet to arrive.

Re: Promised Land

yes thats interesting, especially since they say
so it isnt the promised land in the strictest religious sense for anyone then.

Re: Promised Land

i think the part about the messiah coming and bringing about a Jewsish state is more intresting to me...

do u know anything more about the messiah?

Re: Promised Land

not much, except that all three abrahimic religions have a messiah concept and each of them sees the messiah establishing his kingdom on earth that will be the perfect realization of their religion after a battle.

Re: Promised Land

ok prepare yourself for a blonde moment...

Christians believe in a messiah too? i know about the islamic messiah, but i had no idea about Christians believing in one too...

I had no idea i was so religiously uneducated.

Re: Promised Land

Jesus is their messiah. He is supposed to return in the end times.

Re: Promised Land

oh yes.. i think Christians have the most evolved messiah concept of all three, who do you think the Anti Christ is :). in their case they believe Christ will come again, to battle the anti christ (dajjal) we believe he will, but the messiah in our case will be Imam Mehdi (aided by Hazrat Isa). I believe the climactic battle between the two according to Christian belief will happen in Armageddon (a town in Palestine). Christ will win, and establish a 1000 year reign on Earth.

so they sorta have the specifics down, while we're more vague about it.

Re: Promised Land

According to right wing Christians, the battle of Armageddon is suppose to happen in Bekaa Valley in Lebanon where supposedly Saddam had hidden its WMDs with the help of the Syrian govt.

Re: Promised Land

erm..did u not read the disclaimer…no politics please!

Re: Promised Land

It's not really politics, well it sort of is, but this is what Christian fundamentalists believe: according to the bible the battle of armageddon will take place in the bekkaa valley and with that belief they attribute the wmd's being in that valley.

Re: Promised Land

Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s a Shia beleif.

Re: Promised Land

The Messiah and the Mahdi are two different persons. The Messiah for us is Jesus Christ (AS) whilst Imam Mahdi (AS) is a descendent of the last Prophet (S).

According to our traditions the Mahdi will appear first, he will be from the progeny of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) through the descendents of his daughter Faatimah (R) and her husband ‘Ali (R), his name will be the same as that of our Prophet (SAW) i.e. Muhammad Ibn Abdullah, he will be the Leader (Imam/Ameer) of the Believers.

During the reign of Imam Mahdi, the Anti-Christ/False-Messiah (al-Maseeh al-Dajjaal) will appear and spread corruption throughout the land.

Then the true Messiah, Jesus (‘Eesa) will descend back down to earth to kill the Anti-Chrsit, God (Allah) raised Prophet Jesus Christ up to the Heavens when the Disbelievers (Kuffaar) wanted to crucify him on the cross and God put his likeness on one of their own men so they thought they'd killed him when they had only killed one of their own.

Re: Promised Land

Zeus is so going to kick everyones rear end.

Re: Promised Land

There are still a lot of debate about the specifics among Christians too. Some even believe we are presently living in the 1000 years of peace (I will not bore you with details). There are many differences as to how the second coming of Jesus Christ will take place and what will materialize at that time.

The long and short what basic all Christians believe, is that Jesus Christ will return at the end of time to overthrow the short rule of the Antichrist and his Prophet and to rule permanently over all humankind as King.

Re: Promised Land

i want to know more about the bold part, please.

Re: Promised Land

I will respond in a new thread since it digress from this one.
