In a recent interview, Mahira Khan mentioned a little thing about her date of birth being wrong on Wikipedia. Now I went on her page and tried to change it, but because there is no reliable source wiki keeps deleting the edits you make. Then just skimmed through the page and it hasn’t got much information about her. There must be die-hard fans of Mahira out there who know a lot about her, have read/seen all the interviews, but if you see her wikipedia you won’t learn much about her, which is the point of these pages.

So here’s a list of pages which major tweaking and on this thread, I will request everyone to please provide links to interviews, be it on telly, magazine, newspapers. of your stars so we can work on their pages on wikipedia. I started Aamina and Mohib’s pages few years back and I am so happy that they are still going good. According to Wiki standards majority of these are stubs, but some are better then others.

So take a look at pages of actors/actresses you like and get tweaking. There’s a tonnnn of morning shows videos which are a pain to watch but sometimes they do have a decent chat, so if you watch any and hear something interesting (related to their career, early life, personal life etc) just dump that piece of information here and link to the interview, so it can be added to their Wiki page or easier, just click ‘Edit’ on related page and add it directly.

What can you do?
Read/watch interviews and summarise them.
Provide links to magazines like Sunday, In-paper, GT Magazine etc. Because we usually miss them but if you’re a fan you would know there’s been an interview of Hamza in falana magazine, and provide its link for all to see.

This might seem like a lot of work but its actually fun! :smiley:

Thanks for starting this thread. I completely agree that our showbiz has zero presence on Wikipedia and an intervention is needed. One key thing to remember is CITATION CITATION AND CITATION. If you don’t have citations in the article, it WILL get deleted. My contribution to Wikipedia has always been around supplementing the article with reliable citations. With DesiRantsandRaves.com and Reviewit.com, this has become very easy but back when i started doing this, i had to resort to not just google, but also the search engines of every local publication(i would recommend doing that still). Citations are very easy to do and you can simply utilize this template when doing yours. Anytime I forget, I refer to the first article in wikipedia where i added citations- Sarmad Sultan Khoosat’s wikipedia page :D. Content wise, It’s meh, but citations are pretty decent.

So here is how you would do the citation:

" Actor X is best known for his blockbuster drama Drama1(this is where the citation would go to prove that his drama was a blockbuster and he starred in it {{cite web | title= Title of the article | url=http://url.com}}

I’ll use my sarmad example to illustrate:

In 2011, he gained significant prominence and acclaim with the drama [Pani Jaisa Piyar]]{{cite web | title = Pani Jaisa Pyar Review | url=http://www.dramapakistani.net/pani-jaisa-pyar-review/ | accessdate= February 29, 2012}}

access date is not necessary but is a good indicator when the citation was added and a good way to know if the citation needs to be reverfied.

One issue I’ve run into is that there are people who have nothing better to do than stalk specific wiki pages and revert any changes that others make to them. I’ve faced this issue with the Umera Ahmed Page which is in an abysmal state. She is a playwright and a novelist and all her works need to be listed under the correct category which is current not the case. I tried doing that in the past but someone kept reverting it so i finally gave up.

sometime you have to escalate issues up and get an article protected. For example, some ass h@l@ photoshopped a picture of Bushra Ansari and made that her profile picture. I had to prove that it was photoshopped (which i was able to) and have it taken down. There are some sick b@st@rds out their who put out a lot of sh!t so if you guys encounter that, please post here so we can all take collective action.

I can begin adding citations to pages you specified above. I’ll go top to bottom. Other pages that need work:

Umera Ahmed!!! there are a ton of resources for her. The main issue with this page is how it lumps everything under publications. Take danielle steele’s page as an example and use that as a baseline(she was also a playwright and novelist)
Sarmad Sultan. I added most of the original citations but the content needs quite a bit of work
Moin Akhter - A picture would be nice
Bushra Ansari - More work needed

Page Needed
Noor ul Huda Shah. Some of her works already have a wiki page so be sure to link them all together

Brilliant post dooree! Thanks for the citation guide, very helpful. I use Angelina Jolie’s article for ideas, because she does literally everything and for citation codes any good article that you can see the edit tab on will do.

It’s a shame that Bushra Ansari’s article is just a list of drama titles and couple of lines on her career. Appalling, but we’ll make it very thorough there is no limitation of sources at all.

Note: Sana Askari’s page is going to be deleted on 20th sept if it’s not cited properly. She has done some very good work. Please dig out articles on her and make it easier for us to make changes. I personally love her work so I’m prioritising it, don’t know how fussy Wikipedia can be about recreating previously deleted pages.

she has an interview online that is completely useless because it tell you NOTHING about her career and cannot be used for citation. it reads like a 3rd grader took it. There is a review of Dareecha which includes her picture and her character but not her name. Ill reach out to the writer and see if she can add it on

^ I know! There is no interview, with some decent information, I'm struggling to find any reviews talking about her performances in baraat series. Is Dareecha review the one that Kokab wrote? Just checked it and yes there is no mention of Sana's name in it! @GenaKelly !!!

I added two more references last night and I think they mention Baraat series, though I didn't link to them. I think we have enough content now to avoid deletion. Can we remove the tag or does that have to be an admin?

No no don't delete tags, I was warned about it once before and they are quick to ban people, just keep mentioning ''added citation'' on editing page so it shows up in history and they might remove some of those nasty tags now.

We need a page on Bee Gul although with only two projects I doubt with this little information if they will keep the page going.

There are a few citations, but I am struggling to find any interviews of Ayeza talking about her career, what is wikipedia after? She is a real person with some good dramas to her credit, I don’t get the tag they’ve put up.

Are videos accepted as evidence?

The guy who. Has flagged her is a douchy Pakistani. He's contributed to literary type articles and probably thinks this is frivolous. I found one more reference on tribune that I'll use. There was also an article published by emirates on pyarwy afzal which we can use.
