Prohibition and permission for fasting during the 2nd half of Sha'baan

Assalamo alaykum,

I came across a fatwa that speaks on the matter of fasting during the 2nd half of Sha’baan. I thought I’d share, as it might be of benefit to the members here, insha’Allah.

From what I could gather, those who are in the habit of fasting every Monday and Thursday or who have regularly been fasting from the beginning of Sha’baan then it might be alright for them to continue during the 2nd half of Sha’baan. However, those who haven’t fasted during the 1st half should refrain from fasting during the 2nd half of Sha’baan, as they may become weak and may not be as strong to fast during the month of Ramadan. In addition, those who are making up missed obligatory fasts are also permitted to make them up during the 2nd half of Sha’baan.

This is just my understanding from what I’ve read. Please feel free to correct me.

Here’s a discussion that is more detailed and I’m sure would provide better understanding to those interested.
