Ziada sharafat dikhane ki zaroorat nahin… google kar lo.. Lekin ziada research ki zaroorat nahin hai. When you were asked any confirmation, behave like a under 18 guy.

Re: Prohibited books

Are there any local books falling under this category?

Re: Prohibited books

There are books prohibited in KSA :hehe:

Re: Prohibited books

An obvious one is Satanic Verses by Rushdie. A few people I know refuse to read the book because they believe it's blasphemous, or don't want to be caught reading it.

Re: Prohibited books

Have you read it ? How is it ?

Re: Prohibited books

I picked it up years ago, so the memory is hazy. Rushdie's style is fantastical, which is why I lose patience with his writing sometimes - perhaps magic realism is an acquired taste, or maybe I was too young to appreciate it. I never finished it due to boredom/distractions. But it's undoubtedly well-written, the man is a brilliant wordsmith. The last book by him I picked up was 'Shame' - Pakistani history buffs will enjoy this one as it's a satirical depiction of Pakistani politics during the Bhutto-Zia era. But the themes are easily applicable today. My mom enjoyed it more than I did.
