Re: Programming

I applied at IBM last month for the work placement, passed the online assessment but failed the interview, it was competitive.
Thinking to apply at Microsoft since I attended one of their event last month but seems kinda hard. It is wish to start my future career by working with any of these companies.

I did ActionScript while working on Flash.

JK, What is your qualification now ? and what was it before when you started working 15 years ago?

 JK Uncle, I wana be You. :salute: Masha_Allah you are an intelligent programmer with vast knowledge in the field of IT.

How long have you been in IT? So far , I have done Java, SQL,HTML, CSS, have started learning PHP. I so want to learn C and C++.

All programmers go Green! :sadiyah:

That is the reason I have gotten my MIS and am now going for my masters in project management. Don’t want put all my eggs in one basket. 10 years from now I want to go into project managment

Re: Programming

No clue. There are thousands of linux distros out there and there is no way to be an expert in all of them. I m guessing that this has something to do with linux since thats what you highlighted in my experience. Before coming to the job I have now about a year ago, I had not even touched a linux machine. We were a total windows shop.

Re: Programming

Not sure what kind of qualifications are you looking for but when I started in IT 15 years ago I only had my BCS from Karachi. Started learning and working, kept going to school at the same time. Now I have a MIS from the US and am now working on my Masters in Project Management and will go for PMP cert after that. You have seen above what languages, OS’ and hardware I have experience with.

Thanks for the compliments. I dont know about being intelligent but I try to learn whatever I could and have not ever backed up from learning something new.

Re: Programming

You started with BCS ,you have learned so much in 15 years.
I 'll be completing my graduation degree next summer.I am thinking to do Masters once I complete my grad. Wish I could do PHD but I dislike teaching plus it is long.

Who invented computer programming?

Re: Programming

The earliest mechanical computers were invented in the late 19th century. The earliest example of a modern computer language is FORTRAN, developed by a team of researchers at IBM in the 1950s.

Re: Programming

IBM is too old .

I found this

The first computer programmer lived over a hundred years before the first computer. Ada Lovelace was born in London 1815. She created notes and usages for a theoretical calculating machine called the analytical engine. She essentially created various programs for what she considered to be a general purpose machine.

Re: Programming

What are the good sources of learning PHP?

Re: Programming

you just need to learn the syntax, concepts are some what like c++ java. try w3school for a quick start. make some crud apps. buy some books

Re: Programming

I only learned Java , haven’t done C++. I got this book from the library , our teacher mentioned it,have started reading it.

Is there any other book or useful tutorials to watch?
