well....the 80's are so back.....so the french braid is back.
when I say I don't like the ponytail it doesn't mean I don't know how to tie one....I've been doing that. I just don't like it.
I've done the bun thing......high and low.....
I'm bored of these two styles.
Now I feel like I'm just being difficult.
for wilhemina’s look-- its very high maintenance for every day work-hair i think. you gotta backcomb like crazy, use lots of hair spray, then put it up, smooth out the front and brush it back lightly, more hair spray etc. and if you’re hair is even a little bit wavy, the whole look falls flat, so then you gotta make sure you have super straight hair too.
do the 60’s hair band thing- i love that look for my when hair’s not freshly washed. basically, you side part your hair, and then you make the front bit all smooth but not too flat, and tuck it behind your ears.. then you place a hair band on your head but dont push it back and keep it more to the front of your head than the middle or back. then just backcomb the hair behind the headband and you’re all set. it honestly takes all of 5 minutes in the morning and it looks way nice.
kind of like in the picture, but you could also leave it open or tie it up in a low ponytail.

side-parted hair tied into a low sleek ponytail looks really nice and professional. /quote]
That sounds really nice.
Having long hair can be a nightmare cos u can get bored of doing the same styles. French braids NEVER suited me. They make me look like a total div.
I think buns can look really elegant. If ur getting really bored with ur hair would u consider going for a drastic chop-i mean a shorter, totally different look. Sometimes i feel very tempted to do that cos i get bored with my hair.
When my hair was all in one length I used to take about 3 inches from the front centre and pin them at the back, a little below the top of my head. Or I would take two strands above each ear and tie them with pins at the back just a little higher than the top of the neck. I recently got a slight cut so I sort of turn it in to a side parting and sweep them all to the right side falling on my forehead. I either leave it like that or put a hairband on.
My ponytails always slip down :( How do you hold them in place? The only way I can manage that for at least an hour or two is by using a really tight rubberband but that hurts the hair and is difficult to take off. Any tips?
okay..well how bout sleek or messy buns? Or a way sleek ponytail? Or a bed ead look with a simple accessory like a headband(not school girl, I'm talkin bigger and used wid more flair)
Does anyone has any idea as to what this thing is called - i guess it is made out of artificial hair in a curly form and tied over the jooda (bun) made out of ones own choti (pony tail)... we used to see this thing worn by indian acresses in indian movies of late 70s and early 80s. Also, is it still worn in india and pakistan?.. has anyone has a pic of this?
Here;s a trick thats SO easy to do but hard to explain so I'll do my best.
Make a high ponytail with a band. Then, using your finger, make a "hole" in the hair just underneath the band. Flip and push the banded ponytail thru that hole and push it down. The result looks really nice.
Variation: make the hole as before. But only push the hair INTO the hole, do not let it go all the way thru. Result is a very nice bun.
hey can anyone tell me how to do a perfect quif???i can do it with open hair but cant do a neat one with a pony tail
You need to blow dry your hair and then take about half of your hair from front and backcomb - close remaining hair into a ponytail - style quiff and pin up.
