Productivity

Some of you guys are fairly successful people, I know. So spill it. What is the secret? What keeps you going?

I’m in desperate need of advice. I never felt so demotivated, so much of a procrastinator in my life. Well I have. I have so many ideas, so many projects in mind - its just a matter of doing them. But really, I just want want to spend a few weeks watching TV and eating chips. Except that is not realistic.

So how do you charge yourselves up and keep ticking?

Re: Productivity

PCG I have learnt a very hard way that you need to take breaks, Burnout is a real thing, and can have a huge impact. so def make sure you have downtime and you make the most of it.

for goals and projects, break them into doable chunks, set small time increments to work on them, and make it convenient to work on stuff, i.e. info, work, materials are oranized and easily accessible.

Re: Productivity

You need to take a break to sharpen your saw. You will be more effective.

Re: Productivity

Very good advice X2 and nik. I wish I had those qualities which X2 mentioned in his post.

PCG I read "ideas" in your post. Make sure you keep your creativity intact. If you are creative person having ability of being idle is an asset. But you If you don't yell at me I can point one thing out, you are too angry to be creative. Or so it seems to us. Anger and grudge kills/overshadow most beautiful part of our brain.

Here is a little thing you can to do get your brain organized. Go for long walk every day at same time.
Dress very comfortable. NO MUSIC!! NO PARTNERS.

Just you alone. do it for 30 days.
IF you do it , U wont have any big-picture questions left to ask. IF that don't happen you can have your money back.

And remember the way we all started from Adam, every thing and change come from desire.

Re: Productivity

Failure teaches you more than success. Cherish it like a Guru.

Re: Productivity

Aw that's some good advice.

Yeah I think really negatively - more frequently than I should - and I think that tires me out at the end of the day, so I really lose excitement in the stuff I'm doing...which makes you not want to wake up in the morning.

You're so right PM, thanks for pointing that out - I didn't see it that way.

Rule of thumb: PM is always right :snooty: (Even if he is a dude)

Aaj sy hi walk shorow ker do… and as naman said love your failure, some time that is the only proof we have that we are moving forward.
If you have potential and you are not failing.. you are doning some thing wrong.<-- trust me on that.

Re: Productivity

The best strategy to move forward is to let go of the past. Don't hold onto baseless grudges over trivial matters. It's called De-fragmentation, a process in which the computer's hard drive clears the gaps between sets of data. It compacts it and makes it efficient. Our brain works in a similar manner. Start with getting organized with paper work, bills, mail, closet, kitchen, lunch options, throwing away stuff you don't need, giving charity.

Don't let others shape your life.

Re: Productivity

take a break

Re: Productivity

I went for a run today! I was able to focus for a full 30 minutes more before I went back rummaging through my refrigerator for junk food.

And then I found the gulab jamun.

Re: Productivity

don't try to plan too far in the future when you are in these "unproductive" phases.
chances are your body/mind needs the break that it is craving.
ammi always used to say that you just need to be in tune to yourself to know what you need in life.....listen carefully to what your body tells you and you will always succeed.

I am similar.....have more ideas and projects on the go than ever right now and these days I am feeling like I don't want to do anything at all. Just want to sleep and watch TV and have junk food; all completely impractical desires for what I need to accomplish.

What am I going to do? Take a couple of days of pressure off of myself by doing only that which is absolutely necessary to survive. During this time I will absolutely refuse to take on any new projects and will try to revisit the necessity of those that I have on the go. At the end of these days I will prioritize those projects that I still have an interest in completing and then tackle them in an organized approach.

This will work......

unless I find a gulab jamun.

:k: good advice

and now i’m craving gulab jamuns.

Re: Productivity

u know for me the thing that keeps me going is dreams. I come up with so many things i want to do, and i guess the important lessons i have learned with life is that there are no "what if's" and to keep going even if u get one set back.

Agreed with niksik
