thanks blessed for replying so quickly. ok great, you didn’t say whether you totally updated the antivirus software b4 doing the full scan…just wondering b/c u didn’t mention that.

so when you try to install software it still just stays for a second and then goes away right or did that stop after reinstalling win xp sp 2?

in terms of the vertical blue line, has the warranty on your laptop expired already?

np nisha. no i never updated the antivirus. i am gonna scan the system with whatever version of my current antiv is (it wasnot opening so i will have to try the scan later on).

hmmm i have no idea about the warranty coz i got this laptop via someone else…i think it has coz its been 4yrs for this computer. and i got it in pakistan and i am in uk at the moment…jis admi ne diya tha woh tou pata nahi kahan hoga.

i thought you still had the problem with the programs not opening even after reinstalling b/c you said the bold part. if that’s not the case sorry i misunderstood.

yes the problem is still there. i reinstalled everything still whenever i try to install a software via usb or pc the setup window only stays there for souple of seconds and then goes away…same thing happens with some of the applications like administrative tools.

keep an eye on the blue line while move it to 45° or to 145°. While moving if the line flickers or you see line vanished then its the cable that connects your display to your graphic card. If it remains same then its the screen of your laptop, it should be replaced.

Can you type down the name and the model of laptop? (written normally on a slab located at the base of the laptop)

no it doesnot movie at all. just stayed in one postion…it doesnot flicker either nor it vanishes and then comes back. right not got my laptop with me atm but will get the details.
