Friends , As soon as I put my eye shadow on , it starts looking silvery rather then the actual color … for example , the tried pink shade , it became more like blackish silver … I tried yellow , still bcame silvery …
is there a way to sort this out?
if i apply a normal white shadow as base and then apply the pink or what ever color , would that sort out the issue?
I dont use a primer .. would a primer sort the issue?

hey CB. most definitely a good base!
after a lot of experimenting this is my fav eyeshadow base for the last few years:
get a MAC paint in bare canvas **(this is a favourite of most MAC MUAs and is probably the most popular base along with UDPP - i was a regular on a few make-up comms for aaages). The problem with UDPP is that is it quite hard to blend on top of which is why MAC paints are popular. get a **tiny bit of paint on your finger and smear it really well over your lid and brow bone, make sure its a thin and even layer. the warmth of your fingers should make it spread easily. people who don't like using MAC paint have usually tried it using waaaay too much and it's too creamy.
after this, i use some UDPP in my crease only. draw a line or a few dots and pat it out well so it doesn't show. this stops the shadow melting in this area and giving that weird oily line of shadow in the crease after half a day. if you don't have UDPP that's fine.. it's more for melty issues whereas Paint is for a good base to make the shadows 'pop' and blend nicely.
i do this eye base before any of the rest of my makeup. concealer under eyes, dior skinflash on top of concealer, MAC paint, UDPP. then i do my foundation etc and come back to eyes after.
by this time, the paint and UDPP is well and truly dry and ready for shadow!
ditto on that^^ was jus gona say the same thing. i use macz bare canvas paint pot to the best primer n colours show reli well... ul fal in lvoe wid it to. i dont use UDPP . macz bare canvas is all ul need. trust me buy it once n it wil last u forever CB. cuz u dont need much cuz its reli creamy.

^yea you don't really need UDPP though, i just use it in the crease so even after 12 hrs my eyeshadow hasn't melted in the crease at all, coz my lids are quite oily.

CB u sure ur not using forsted eye shades??? 
primers will sort out alot of problems but this colour changing right after u put it on is sumthign new

^lol, kalli, i think it's like when you use frosted shadows and the colour just doesn't show up on the lid at all.. all you can see is the shimmer.

KB , yu mean frosted eye shadows? yaar its the case with not just the shimmery ones but even the plain ones ! its horrid i tell you .. yeah with the plain ones it doesnt go THAT dard , but stil lthe color changes ...
like how some people have this issue for the lips .. what ever color they put becomes a shade of purple !

^lol CB kicks you out for a trip to MAC
if you use it right, you wont be disappointed by the paint. it's really versatile too; can just use it as a beige wash with nothing on top, is great of lightening eyelids to make them look less sleepy and psquared had a thread a few days ago saying that you can use it in foundation for a bit of shimmer.

oh that! its prolly cuz of the skin tone. different colours show different on different skin tones. so yeah u need primer. oh and try switching to highley pigmented eye shades liek MAC they usually come out the same colour cuz of higher concentration of pigments.

KB , yeah its the skin really …
I never thought i would need a primer … but just realized after using the pigments … I have used the Mac ones as well .. but the color actually loses its brightness on my eye ! its freaky i tell you ..

STOPPIT already mentioned the benefits of MACs Bare Canvas...thats all you really need to bring out the true shade of the eyeshadow you're using.
One more point to consider is your skin tone. You have to judge for yourself if you're even using the right shade. Meaning, something that looks brown on my friend might look pink on me because she is pale white and Im a lot more olive colored.

yeah totally Reha .. surely will keep that in mind .. I was on the phone with a friend and told her I have raised this query on GS and she said yours only turns silver which aint that bad , mine turn orangish !!! I wanted to do shukrana nafals that my skin is not that bad as yet .. 
I discovered a fantastic product by Sisley.. stepping-out now will come back with the name and how fabulous it is!
