problem: beauty pageants

be it for girls or for boys; women or men, beauty pageants are a disgrace to the humans.

the human physique is objectified and judged on the basis of its appearance.
the utter immorality involved in the public display of the human figure is obnoxious. & to further this ill, the society patronizes people who cash their looks personal harms and humiliation, aside.

any thoughts on this: do u think as a Muslim female or male, that there is nothing wrong with beauty pageants and that it is alright if they are arranged in our societies.

Re: problem: beauty pageants

i am really proud that muslim nations do not follow this retarded tradition, regardless of what thier reasons are for not following it.

not to mention you are right it is a disgrace to humanity. We are all beautifull creatures, judging us based on our appearance is totally screwed up. Some people are short, some fat, some both and all are beautiful creatues in thier own right, stupid beauty pagents instill in us this notion that beauty is an objective thing, when really beatuy should be a subjective thing - in the eye of the beholder and all.

its just sad judging human beings for thier appearance, its sooo wrong!!!

Re: problem: beauty pageants

this is so true.
women being objectified, and the sorry thing is that mom and dads, themselves, sometimes, display their kids with pride that their kids look like dolls.
the negative psychological effect, as these kids grow up, is irreparable and anybody can mistreat them, then.

Re: problem: beauty pageants

I totally agree.

As far as external beauty is concerned, all human beings are created by Allah :swt: and every human form is beautiful in its own way. The only time a human being can be considered ugly is in the absence of the beauty of mind and soul.

Beauty pageants tend to emphasize the importance of physical beauty and those, in support of beauty pageants, say that these pageants allow women to celebrate their freedom and liberty. But are they really proving that? What they are doing is reducing a woman’s worth to an object, which is judged on the basis of its material attributes.

Substantiation of one’s importance and competence is worthwhile when done at the intellectual and perceptual level rather than at the materialistic level.
