Problem area: Stomach

Ok all you gym fanatics out there…

Im doing loads of cardiovascular exercise: treadmill/cycling and crosstrainer…

what exercise can I do which will get rid of my horrible stomach…?

Ive been told theres no point doing sit ups because its all flab at the moment…any suggestions?

Also-how many to do in a day? Im working out about 3-4 times a week…so should i do the stomach exercises everyday..or the days I go gym

help appreciated

Re: Problem area: Stomach

yes there is an exercise in which one has to first consume 1 liter of water and then lay on the ground on stomach for 3 hours daily for 3 months.

Sub zero...if u r joking, then no need for your response pls...onyl serious replies pls..

if ur serious...then that exercise sounds like a joke!

Re: Problem area: Stomach

I have the same problem. Any suggestions ?

no i am not joking. This exercise demands patience and will power but results are positive.

A major part of toning the stomach/abs are diet.

You need to run regularly to lose the fat. And you need to do different ab exercises to tone the muscle.

BUT no matter how much you run and exercise, if you do not control your diet, you won't see much results.

There are tons of ab exercises that are more effective than sit ups. Sit ups only effect one area of your stomach. I highly recommend the site bodybuilding.com. Even though it's a "bodybuilding" side, they have a women's section that gives you tons of tips on toning different areas of your body. You won't end up like the women on that site b/c they do it was a profession, but you will learn tons of good exercises for abs and other parts of your body if you take the time to look through it.

Re: Problem area: Stomach

^ Erm, no thanks!

My problem area is my stomach too! I’m a slender size 8 (UK) but my tummy bulges. It always has! :frowning: And I even look pregnant when I’m bloated! :bummer:

I always think there’s no point in trying to tone it up, until I lose all the fat. Muscle and fat are two seperate things.

Whenever I lose weight, I lose it from everywhere else, except my tummy! :vivo:

Does anyone have any ‘sensible’ suggestions please?

so i used this it does actaully work however after researching it on the net apparently it can cause cancer\?!!

u can't remove fat frm a target area Period :) especially the core because that's the last area in ur body which will reduce by exercising
the only way to do this is to be patient, keep working out(include muscle training in it) and hv an over all healthy life style

Re: Problem area: Stomach

:( Looks like I'll look 'preggers' for the rest of my life!

Re: Problem area: Stomach

You have to begin with cardio and when you lose the flab and feel lean muscle you can start strenght training and working out ur abs for a toned look

According to my personal trainer: you should be doing tons of cardio to lose the actual flab, but at the same time you should be doing ab exercises as well. Building muscle will help to burn the fast and will also help to increase your metabolism. You should really be doing the two in conjuction to get good results.

Also look into the effectiveness of your cardio, machines and equipment wrongly specify a 'fat burning zone' as a low intensity speed zone for an extended period. Try buying a heart monitor and make sure your heart rate, you should be training within 70-80% of your maximum heart rate.

Interval training is a great way to optimise your workout, you exercise for a shorter time but with more intensity. I do a ratio of 1 minute of intense exercise, to 2 mins rest, and use a heart rate monitor to check that during that 1 min, I've gone above my anaerobic heart rate target. I usually only do 30 mins of cardio max this way.

Finally, like Paheli said diet is important. According to my trainer you will never lose the weight unless you can control your diet. Its probably the hardest part. I'm currently sticking to a 1500 calorie diet (5 ft 8 and 62 kg). Doesn't mean I'm starving myself, but I've had to cut out all refined sugars, white carbs, etc.

In order to lose those last few pounds which are almost impossible to get rid of, you'll have to do all three of these things.

All of the above is really all that u need to work out your problem area. Dont forget to take abs classes twice a week they really do help tighten up yr stomach if done right. goodluck.

Re: Problem area: Stomach

you cannot target train...doesnt happen...you have to do regular cardio to get rid of the flab then tone up with crunches and other ab excercises

Oh you women with big tummies

Can I laugh?

:stuck_out_tongue:

What he said

Bet you already are Mister!!!

Re: Problem area: Stomach

The thing is; if I train and do cardio workouts, I’m going to burn off fat from other areas too, which I’m worried about…I don’t want to end up any smaller! I understand that you can’t target one area, and the tummy is probably the hardest part to shift, but as I say; I lose it from everywhere else but there! :emmy: Think I might just go ahead with abdominal exercises for now to hopefully facilitate the burning of the fat around that area.
