There was another islamic forum that I use to visit but for months now I am unable to access it from my home PC. I can access the same website from other PCs in other locations so the website is not down. I also have not been banned there(confirmed). When I typed the url, the page comes up as the following:
**The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.**
Thinking my cookies or some settings were messed up n not knowing what to look for to fix, I reformatted my PC only to know that I was still unable to access the website.
As a last resort, I am posting this here. Any idea what I can do?
It’s actually shiachat. Using your website, it works. But I confirmed with one of the mods that my IP address is not banned but when I provided my ISP for them to check, I got no response at all even after multiple mails. It’s been weeks.
I guess I’ll have to use tntproxy for the time being. Interesting. I never knew they can ban ISPs too. :konfused:
ISPs often have a fixed number of IP addresses that they recycle as users log in, in which case users dont have a fixed address, therefore the only option is to block the whole range.
anyway looks like the proxy works for now, and indeed it is a problem with your IP (if it were a problem with cookies/browsers etc it wouldnt work through proxy).
Im surprised you reformatted your computer! thats a huge hassle
