Proactive for acne

Anyone used it? Any reviews?

Re: Proactive for acne

Yes! 3 months before the wedding out of desperation. I used it for about month and a half. They say it gets worst before it gets better. Well, it certainly got worst and I the reason i kept using it was cause I was waiting for it to get better....it never did. I hated it. My skin was super dry and I was still breaking out..like it made my skin really really bad. I can't even explain it. It makes you really sensitive to the sun so you have to make sure yu wear sun screen all the time. What else? I liked the refining mask they had..i wud use it once in a while on occasional spots or when I am breaking out.

Re: Proactive for acne

Oh, another thing. There's so many products out there for acne/ blemish prone skin..those are specially drying. I have tried many and what ends up happening is that they strip away the natural oils of your skin and in return your skin tends to make extra oils to make up for the oil thats been taking away for the products....which results into more acne. My skin's cleared up now except a few here and there. One thing that does wonders!!! I LOVE THIS ...Tea tree oil. Its very drying so use it in moderation. You put it on a pimple and shrinks alot. Its not a miracle product. But i just feel a lot better using it cause its natural and not a chemical i am putting on my face.

Re: Proactive for acne

yeah couple years back. i tried it for a few months.. i didnt break out more than i used to but it didnt help much. i wasn't consistent with it either. theres all this stuff you put on and i got lazy lol. so it didnt work too well for me. then i went onto prescription creams and quit cuz i dont have the patience. i dont break out as often now maybe because i'm older now, 18 lol

Re: Proactive for acne

pyari si.. i've heard a lot abt the tea tree oil.. its time i try it too lol. so do you say its good for when you break out once in a while??

Re: Proactive for acne

i couple of my friends used it after getting sucked into their tv commercials... 4 friends, not a single one satisfied.

guppan talkin bout tea tree oil up there is right... its fantastic! friends with acne prone skin rave bout it.. they use the body shop line of tea tree products. i have used their acne stick for the rare pimples i get.. its wonderful!

I havn't come across anyone that actually liked Proactive.. tea tree oil works really well..and rosehip oil works really well for acne scarring.

Re: Proactive for acne

When I used Proactive, it helped considerably. However, like anthing else on the market...it stopped working after a couple of months. I did notice its EXTREMELY drying.

I do like their refining mask...its nice to use occasionally on spots.

Re: Proactive for acne

Wow - so Proactive didn't really do much for any of you ladies? Good to know!!

Re: Proactive for acne

I use tea tree oil everytime I see a new pimple coming up...and If I notice that a breakout all over is on the way..i mix a drop of it in my toner. Obagi has a product as well for acne prone skin. Its got three steps just like Proactiv. I tried that as well because Obagi has some other really nice products. I didn't like the Obagi one ..wayy too drying and had the same ingredients that Proactive had....benzoyl peroxide.
Anyways, I ll give rosehip oil a try for acne scarring.

Re: Proactive for acne

I have been using for almost a year now and for me my acne cleared with the very first use. What i liked was that it cleared up all my marks left behind since teenage years. But what i dont like about it, is that once you stop pimples come back popping again. So it isnt a permanent solution. And my skin was really oily so i havent felt any dryness at all but i feel it has become less oily than what it used to be. It was shining all the time earlier, within 5 minutes of washing.

Re: Proactive for acne

^ i;m so glad its working out for you. you're the first person i met who successfully used proactive. congrats=] lol i wish it did the magic for me too. but its true that your skin becomes addicted to it and you start breaking out once you stop using it.

Re: Proactive for acne

didn't do anything for me! waste of money!

Re: Proactive for acne

I think it works well for people having really bad oily skin (like me). My sister tried it but it gave her itching feeling all the time so she had to stop. So i would reccomend it to people having oily skin.

Re: Proactive for acne

tea tree oil is for pimples or scars?

Re: Proactive for acne

i used it and it works great..but i only got an occasional...pimple.
The mask is great...too.

Re: Proactive for acne

someone gifted me a MAC's foundation, and it made me breakout so much that i literly went to depression spent about $300 total in different products and NOTHING happened. then i went to my doctor and she prescribed a medicine that cost like $10 with insurance and my acne was gone.
so my suggestion is if u have acne forget all those facewash and treatment. just go to ur doctor.

Re: Proactive for acne

ew yeah i know.. i hate mac foundations too..and trust me i'v tried them all and they are just the most hideous thing thats ever happened to my skin

actually, MAC have different foundation. the one that break me out was the one in tube (forgot it's name) when i returned it, i got another one, and it was in a glass bottle, and that stuff is ok. i get like one of two pimple if i wear it continuously for three days, otherwise it doesn't break me out. but LOVED the coverage of the one that break me out.
oh well i guess i can either have good coverage, or good foundation.
