Dont know that much about Pakistan’s setup…what areas tend to be nationalised and which areas are privatised?..and do they work or would they be better suited being the other?..
In the UK we have the whole debate about our NHS setup…thing is in Pakistan cos people have an issue with paying taxes i see…what happens in terms of public health for instance…
Would it be better if thins were privatised…i went to a lecture in anarchy and they spoke about privatising police forces for instance cos that way there would actually be a desire to stomp out crime in order to make sure you were chosen…
In a country where people have an issue paying taxes would it be better then that many things be privatised or is that already how it is?..
i always prefer most of the things should be privatized in county like India Pakistan to crackdown this corruption. It's not like that corruption would be totally vanished off after privatization but atleast they do some quality work on the ground unlike these corrupted govt. employees
yup....privitization may not completely eradicate corruption, but it will be ensured that some word is always done. The government organizations eat money and at the same time dont do any work also.
The concept of Privatization means, breaking monopoly and providing open market competition resulting better quality of product and/or serivce, where ever the above purpose is not served, the simple transactin doesn't make any difference. End-User still have to suffer, Prime example of competition and better service is Pakistan's Telecommunication Industry, if Pakistan can keep up the same standards in other industries as well, i think Pakistan can score good points and end-users can have better services and quality of life.
The only hurdle in these deal is, the UNIONs, they were living on "Not-to-work and get-paid" philosophy, and it is only those people who are shouting and accusing for coruption. i agree the corruption has its role in the privatization process but at the end of the day, private companies, looks for the profit and in case of competition, provide better quality.
the MORAL of above story is, if govt is privatizing any institute without providing open market competition environment and proper regulatory authorities, then they are selling the end-users to a hungry lion
